I come to you today with an idea that either may be a ton of fun or may fall flat on it’s face.
We all know golf courses pretty well. But how well do you think you really know them? Can you identify them with just a picture? Under the gun of a time limit?
I have (maybe foolishly) paid for a GeoGuessr subscription that will allow me to create custom maps where I can choose specific golf courses (as long as they have good Google Maps images) and aim those snapshots in a way to give people a good chance at guessing the course, or even in a way that could trip people up.
The point of this is to have fun and enjoy the challenge of racking your memory of images and locations to see who can come out on top as getting the closest guesses. Keep in mind, the closer you can get your guess on the map, the more points you will get so get specific if you can!
First Map: Famous Front Nine - nine very well known holes/locations to sort of ease everyone into this idea and concept. I believe with my link you should be able to play this map for free. If not, then this idea may not have the legs I was hoping for.
I’ve got to figure out a way to make this work for people who don’t want to sign up for a paid account. I’m hoping the challenge link I posted will work for that, but it looks like challenge only gives you 5 locations instead of all 9 that I placed in the map.
I first was going to click on Chambers Bay #17 and then I looked at the water again and realized it was Whislting. Should have known it was WS given the thread starter.
This is a sick idea and would be very in on future iterations. I wish the map could be toggled to satellite mode, realized after the first guess I had to get way closer to the actual spot to score higher. Best was 23 meters lol
