finished this a couple of weeks ago, super quick and easy read… i read very little non fiction, and really appreciated the ability for Grann’s to present the content in much more of a fiction format and not textbook-y.
great read, immediately bought his newest The Wager after finishing KoTFM. Look forward to hopefully joining the discussion!
Just realized that I picked this up a few weeks back at my local bookstore. Didn’t even realize it was the same author as our current pick. Really excited to read both!
Did we set a date for this one yet? I’ve got some connections within the tribe and might be able to get someone to jump on and join us if that’s something that would be of interest to the group.
At the very least, it could be a nice connection to the stories in the book, but the book really only scratches the surface of what happened throughout Indian Territory/Oklahoma during the late 1800s/early 1900s, so getting someone who can supplement the book could be interesting.
I’m tentative since I read the book years ago and actually assumed you’d discuss this last month when I was out of the country, so schedule around me! (But those dates currently work.)
9/20 works for me, but need a firm date/time if y’all want me to try and grab someone from tribe to join the discussion - if not, that’s totally fine, too, I just wanted to present the possibility to the group.
For all the book lovers, I’m at a Literary Ball hosted at the Library of Congress tonight. You were encouraged to dress up as your favorite literary character. First and foremost, library of Congress is awesome. Secondly, a bride and groom and taking their wedding photos here:
Unfortunately won’t make it tonight. Reading schedule didn’t have me finishing my last one with enough time to pick this up. Which is a shame because this is on the top of my list.
But pardon the dumb question…. Does the zoom link just need to come from someone with untimed sessions? If so, pretty sure my work account allows that. Unless I’m truly technologically illiterate, I can get you a link when I go into the office.
