Me too – summer travels kept me away from the last couple meetings, and I’m really looking forward to tonight!

Running ten minutes late but I’ll be there soon!

Thanks folks! Super appreciate the discussion and especially hearing about people’s personal experiences :heart::heart:

Looking forward to next one! @OffTheDole @Double_Bogey_Dave can someone update title to include our next pick “There There” by Tommy Orange

For those who did read A Visit From The Goon Squad this is intriguing…including for those who haven’t loved Egan’s work aside from this. New book coming in April that takes place in the same world as that book.

A genuine thank you to those who shared personal stories last night. It’s not easy revisiting highly emotional times, and it was quite impactful to hear others who were older or closer to the situation than I was.

Hopefully there will be more shorthand texting in this one given how much we all loved it.

Some real intriguing releases coming up for sure. Pumped for the new Towles in October as well. We might have to step up those 2022 goal numbers to make it happen.

If there are not Venn diagrams in PowerPoint slides I’m leaving Egan a nasty Amazon review.

So I’m all in. I’ve read There There before and know Tommy. The new Hulu series Reservation Dogs has a similar vibe but it has more heart. I highly recommend it.

I saw a New Yorker article about re-reading Thoreau’s “Walden” post pandemic, with new perspectives. I’m putting it up for candidate for next book. (We’re ripe to dial back the clock to a classic)

YES. I’ve been missing 19th century homoeroticism since finishing Moby Dick!

Hey when is this discussion? I feel embarrassed I’ve never been in a book club zoom here and have read half this book, hoping to finish in time (unless it’s already happened and then, my god, how embarrassing. Again.)

We like to give some time to procure and finish book and then have discussion on a Wednesday usually 4-6 weeks after previous discussion …thinking discussion maybe September 8 or 15…

September 15 is when I’m sorrynotsorry in Bandon Dunes, but given that I’ve already read this one, and probably won’t re-read it (it’s GREAT though, but too many books, too little time) that might be a good date for it. Perhaps I’ll Zoom in from The Punch Bowl with a Transfusion in hand…

The following week is also an option!

Book came in yesterday. Read the prologue last night, and holy shit he just comes out throwing haymakers. Had to stay up and read a couple chapters. The book won’t last the weekend for me.

Date ? Let’s get er on the calendar!

I know it’s a bit of a longer time but do we want to go with September 22? That would mean @greebs can tell us all about bandon

edit: @OffTheDole can you please add September 22 at 6pm PST to the title of the thread?

Wait, @greebs is going (and has been) to Bandon? That’s the first I’m hearing of this.

I’m pretty quiet about my golf trips, I know. Trying to keep it on the downlow
