Refuge Book Club: INTERMEZZO by Sally Rooney, date TBD

I am not on track so would vote for pushing it back :sweat_smile:. Been hammering out beach reads in Mexico instead of reading a smart person book

I got ahead of schedule and had to switch to another book so that I wouldn’t forget about Solito before the meeting.

Can @Double_Bogey_Dave or someone with mod access update this thread title to:

Refuge Book Club: Solito, Wed 1/25, 6:30PM PST

Thanks!

Thanks @Randy - perhaps you can join us?!

I did look up Solito, added it to my reading list. Doubtful I make 1/25 but will join again this year

How do I sign up?

You just did! No signing up, just read the selected book (if you’re into it) and join the Zoom that’s posted the day of the call in this thread. We’d love to have you!

Also, WORLD CLASS username. Much props.

I’d like to join please. I will start with whatever book is after Solito. Thank you!

I also look forward to joining the next Book Club cycle!

Just currently started the Seven Moons of Maali Almedia, been a pretty great read thus far

Also reading this currently. Has been a really enjoyable read to date. Hoping to finish it on my 6 hour flight home on Sunday but that’s being optimistic.

“Seven Moons….” may need to be short listed for a future discussion. Booker Prize 2022 winner and quite the creative narrative.

for sure, i always try to read the Booker/Pulitzer/National Book Award for Fiction each year. Its always a good yearly account of fiction literary trends, ive def done the Big Randy “quit” on a book every now and again

I haven’t been able to find any good discussion questions to aid in the chat on Solito. I think that’s okay though because we’re pretty good at finding things to chat about!

Looking forward to meeting tomorrow - @mcdonart22 are you able to share a zoom? Or should I track down one from @MrVinegar206 @MrChickPhilA or @KVV etc

Yeah I finished it last weekend. Took longer than normal because rudely, work has been a LOT of late. So much that I was in Charlotte next week and couldn’t even reach out to @rkris or others as I worked until 8 or 9 every night.

Can’t wait to talk about Solito though!

Bummed to admit it but I never even got started on this one, and I was really looking forward to reading it. I may jump on the zoom anyway just to listen to what yall have to say, and maybe it’ll work back onto my bookshelf soon.

Finished the book over the weekend (lots of free time since @greebs didn’t get in touch while in state) and planning on a caffeine laden Wednesday to stay up for book club.

Ha! I wish I’d had even a moment to reach out. Next time! I finished the book on my flight home, didn’t even have time to read in my hotel room I was so wiped

Are we later than normal tonight? 9:30 EST is looking tough for the guy who normally crawls into bed around 8. Looking forward to discussing this one!
