PGA 2K25 Refuge Tour - Info in post 152 - S25 starts 3/23/2025

I usually just take a week off and dive straight in instead of playing practice rounds. Then I have something to blame when I don’t play well, just like in real life

I’m also currently leveling up a technician. Even with less distance than my sculptor, and in ability to actually hit a fade with out my swing bias swapping sides, having the forgiveness in the approach play has been very helpful. Was just going to get him to 85 but might just keep going with him.

I used to try to dedicate time to practice rounds with the course conditions, but haven’t kept to that since shortly after 2k23 was out. There might be the odd shot with a lot of elevation change that a practice shot is useful on, but otherwise I just wing it.

I stuck with my tech, contact and swing path were the most important things for me to get as high as possible. Everyone is different, but that’s what I found works for me.

Not sure where these spreadsheets are coming from but if it holds I’m qualified for kinetic on the number (-36) after shooting -2 in round 1. Pretty happy with that

Wow, I went from CC-C in the old game to not even having a card in the new game.

Finished at -11 looks like I’ll be in CC-K. Had it to -15 but threw a bunch away on the back nine of round 4.

I expect there will be some dropoff over the next few weeks, this was a huge increase of players over what they got in 23. I think another fairly large number of tour cards are going out next week as well, and then moving forward just on a week to week basis as players drop off.

God I hope so

Luckily I’ve already played the course for this next week a few times and loved it so I don’t mide playing a few practice rounds this week before playing my official rounds again

Has anyone else gotten these thick gridlines before? They showed up on a society round for me, and it seems to be specific to the course (Lake Clark National). I went back to it in Quick Play and the grids are thick, but haven’t seen it on any other course. I can’t figure out if this is a setting the designer implemented for their course, or if this is changeable in the settings somewhere.

Normal for comparison

This game is truly, truly miserable to play when you have time for like 2-3 rounds per week.

It might be something with the winter Theme on the course. In the past the grid lines were SUPER BRIGHT, and so a lot of designers avoided that theme apparently

Lake Clark National GC was the alternate he published in a swiss theme that will have normal grid lines.

I kind of didn’t take the rounds super seriously, figuring I’d just qualify into CC whatever and work my way up or down from there. I had also re-spec’d my technician after being kinda decent and made him worse. I’ve since fixed that, but it cost me some distance, which sucked. But then I realized I didn’t have any fittings in my driver, so added a lot of power and about 12 extra yards. No master is much easier and I have my length back. Played the first round this week and shot -5, so may get a card eventually.

@Jeff_M I forgot to put my scores in this week, I definitely was not near the top but once it completes tomorrow I’ll put em in. (iirc I was like even, -4, even, even…) I’ll confirm tomorrow though. If that screws up points too much I’ll forfeit those of course, don’t want to make your job harder.

Got a busy week ahead at work so I blitzed out the first Elite event tonight. That Qinwen Gardens course is tough man. I’d hope -36 will avoid any demotion credits but it’s certainly way off the pace

no worries! I won’t have time to finalize stuff until tomorrow afternoon or evening anyway.

I ejected and will for sure miss the cut, the wind got me this time. Oh well, on to the next

Also I’m just now registering for TGC Tours, anything specific I should know outside what the website says?

The site should have all the basics covered, main thing is to make sure you have third party data access turned on in game settings. If you are just registering now, I think there is a qualifying event this week in the special events society. After that it’ll be weekly qualifying using the CC society event.

Sounds good, yeah I went through and changed all my settings to mirror it while I play career mode, and I joined the society, don’t know if I’ll make the cut but it’s fun to try.

Finally pulled the trigger and respec’d my 99sculptor to be closer to my Technician, and not hit the ball so far. Shot 9 under in the round 4 practice settings. Feeling much better about life now!

Now I just gotta hold it together for 4 rounds in the quali this week

edit: update, massive choke on round 2.
-3 R1,
R2 had a few double bogeys but managed to get around in E to stay at -3. Gonna wait a to see how R2 score stack up to see how far outside the card-line I am, to see how aggressive I’ll need to be in R3/R4

What is the the best Archetype? And what overall rating do you need to get to before you should start a different type?
