PGA 2K23 Refuge Tour - Info Post #9562 - S24 Begins 11/25

Whoa, what a blackout run. I’m impressed, even if that cow isn’t

That’s an utterly ridiculous lie.

My apologies. I’ll show myself out.

I’m so impressed with all the low scores. I have no idea how y’all shoot so low on the difficulty we play on. I get too many wild swings/very slow/very fast on my xbox controller. Consider me in awe.

Xbox is know to be a bit wonky with this game, I think something to do with the controller being more sensitive with inputs than PS. It’s definitely possible to swing well with Xbox but it’s down to the different system.

The game does an awful job of explaining the different tools, this may be helpful insight into seeing if Swing Calibration is the right thing to do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwDLU7r8bbQ

I have started doing swing calibration before every round which seemed to help but I’m also human and usually a few beers deep so my fine motor skills are not at their peak when I tee off.

that may be part of it, turns out doing swing calibration every time might make it harder to get Perfect swings. I used to do it as well. Watch that video above and he goes through what is actually does.

Here’s another that might be helpful to finding a way forward with getting more consistent swings

Of course in 2 months this might all be moot if they punt out a new game like everyone is expecting.

Yeah I just got to that part so now I’m going to try and revert it to factory to “reset” it. Will see how this carries over this week.

Again thanks so much for the help. I appreciate all the advice.

For sure! Real golf is hard enough, we think we have a good balance of making the game a challenge but fun, but it’s a far cry from the TW games of old where shooting 56 was easy.

I’m no where near the level of some of the guy here, but I can say that playing on the TGCTours Societies will really prep you for it, and this feels “easy” after those. Most of my high scores are just incredibly poor course management these days lol

Cow I am in you

Looks like I’ll lose by 3 shots with 2 doubles. @Jeff_M and whoever put fences around the greens will be hearing from my lawyers

SEASON 22 - WEEK 8 UPDATE - Cows

Cows! (And sheep)

Individual flight winners:

  • Young Hitters: @kmart796 is the only player to crack into 50 under par, finishing -51. -19 in round 3 is quite something!
  • C-Suite: @bert emerges from a hard charging pack of players
  • Strapped: @jeffvalois, the Jeff winning streak is alive and well!
  • LPCP: @mlakota kept the pedal down in round 3 and that proved to be the difference!

Shhedule for the week

Last Tourist Sauce course for this season with New South Wales. Episode 1 of the new season if anyone wants to see the course on video. Big ballpark, proper test. Hopefully this will be a decent warmup for Troon!

Thanks as always for playing here on the Refuge Tour

SEASON 22 - WEEK 9 UPDATE - Big Ballpark; Proper Test

The penultimate event for this regular season is at a close, if we can’t play in person the digital version of NSW is still a ton of fun! Going over scores for week 9 before moving on to season points updates.

Individual flight winners:

  • Young Hitters: @WhineyCracker52 was able to hold off @kmart796 who somehow shot -19 in round 3, some crazy scores being thrown up!
  • C-Suite: @bert goes back to back!
  • Strapped: @Whitebro is the Jeff Stopper
  • LPCP: @btwat after being close all season, gets a W!

@pgwel3 welcome! You will be in C-Suite. We’re basically at the close of this current season, but that is where you will be flighted for the next season.

Shhedule for the week

Week 10 is already here, and we finish this season with Troon. Hopefully will be a fun experience to play along with the men’s Open! #ForgedbyNature #Forgedby1sand0s

Season Points Update

Quick points breakdown before the last event to see who gets the regular season points titles.
YH: It’s a close two horse race between @kmart796 and @BlakeG at the top, still anyone’s game!
C-Suite: @Davifuego is leading but @bert is on a heater and can overtake at the last event
Strapped: Another close race between two players in @jeffvalois and @BMarsh
LPCP: It turns out @mlakota may have pop and can play, there is no catching this one. Congrats!

*if any errors are noticed in the points table please let me know. I did a quick rundown of the formulas and as far as I can tell they are pulling numbers correctly.

__

And a few housekeeping items as the season wraps:

  • For the Butt Cup in a couple weeks it will be flighted based on season-long scores and strokes gained stats. 24 individual rounds (75% of the season) is usually the threshold, any others are at the commissioners discretion.
  • Then my plan is to re-shuffle flights based on strokes gained, and those players who did play but didn’t get enough rounds in to calculate a good number, will remain where they are.
  • Any players who signed up but did not post scores will be purged from the flighted roster and can re-qualify.
  • We are carrying on with 2K23. There has been no news of a 2K25 so it is currently unknown, at least to me, if a new game is coming this year or not. Fingers crossed for new game with cross-platform societies to make managing this a bit easier, but we’ll see.

Thanks as always for playing here on the Refuge Tour

Edit: can someone post so I can keep spamming?

Any chance @jeffvalois is getting promoted next season?

-44 would finish THIRD in the top flight.

It’s like Scheffler playing on a mini-tour.

Chances are he will be moved up when everything re-shuffles

Also I am going to appeal to 2K to include realistic air traffic in the next iteration of the game. It is one of the coolest things to be directly under the approach for a heavy

I always take sandbagging allegations as a compliment

I played out of my mind for this tournament. But yeah, a few stokes here and there and I would’ve been promoted earlier in the season.

SEASON 22 - WEEK 10 UPDATE - UKBOPBHMTK

The conditions were not quite as diabolical in the game version of the tournament, but still hopefully made it a good, but still fun test.

Individual flight winners:

  • Young Hitters: @BlakeG is the only player to crack the -50s, what a performance
  • C-Suite: @bert completes the hat trick!
  • Strapped: @jeffvalois was golfing his ball, posting a score that no one else in Strapped was even going to sniff
  • LPCP: @TGray seemingly out of nowhere to win LPCP, after a few weeks off and a podium finish last week

Season Points Update

*disclaimer here, I have reviewed and to the best of my knowledge the formulas have pulled scores and calculated correctly, but if any errors are present please let me know. (read, I’m an idiot and have been known to screw things up, so please bear with me)

YH: @BlakeG needed to win or at minimum beat @kmart796 to overtake, and does so to win the points race by 39 points, what a close season!
C-Suite: @bert did not let off the throttle, I warned last week he was on a heater and he managed to pull off the last minute overtake to win the points race
Strapped: @jeffvalois manages to close it out with the incredible performance this week
LPCP: @mlakota closed this one out last week, congrats again on a great season!

Shhedule for the week

This is an off-week ahead of the Butt Cup which runs the week of 7/29. I seriously don’t even remember where the name came from, it’s buried back somewhere in Refuge Tour lore making fun of the FedEx Cup. The course and settings are in the spreadsheet schedule. My goal moving forward will be to visit a noteworthy real course for the Butt Cup. But if the masses demand East Lake, you never know.

The field and handicaps are set for The Butt Cup, please reference the tab in the sheet. If you feel that your name is missing and you played enough rounds to calculate a handicap, please let me know. I double checked things but it is very plausible I missed a name that should be included.

This week I will also be working on building the tournament schedule for next season which is currently scheduled to begin on 8/12 so it will line up with majors the weeks of the AIGUKBWOPBHMTK and Solheim Cup. I don’t yet know if RTJ is in the game to play along with Solheim week, but I will be doing some research.
