PGA 2K23 Refuge Tour - Info Post #9562 - S24 Begins 11/25

Alright, I officially have a system, cuz round 2 I started throwing DARTS BABY, may or may not involve a “warmup round” on harder difficulty on my home courses…

I’m having some serious “I figured out golf” feelings.

This is probably a lot due to my New DualSense controller, but holy heck that felt effortless. I was slinging things around trees I had no business trying.

Round 3:
Had to guide it in at the end there but that felt respectable

So you’re mad at the game for its accuracy to real life? SMH.

Good news is that a new wired controller and swing calibration may have solved the problem.

Bad news is I have to wait until Monday to know for sure.

I’ll see what I can do for a weekly update on Monday, but tbd. I’m out of town with no computer and probably not a ton of down time. I return on Friday 12/15 so it might come down to a very belated update then. Just wanted to post for info in case I don’t get around to it in a timely manner

Alright apologies for the delay for last week’s results, travel and then handling holiday season errands has got me quite busy.

Why Don’t They Plant More Trees? - WEEK 7 UPDATE

Seems like from the leaderboards the answer to rolling back video game golf is not planting more trees, you all decimated Harbour Town. Back to the drawing board.

Individual flight winners:

  • Young Hitters: @kmart796 built a lead in round 2 and held on for a 1 shot victory, overall a very close contents through the flight!
  • C-Suite: @valleyslice notches another win, this one by 10 shots in the flight, very well played.
  • Strapped: @jeffvalois blasted ahead in round 1 and never looked back
  • LPCP: @mlakota again, the chasers fizzled in round 3 and three solid rounds does it.

No new qualifers, we are nearly to the end of the season so I don’t expect an influx of new or returning players until next season.

This was obviously a delayed post so the current event this week is Bodark Ranch by our own @David_is_Goliath. I hope the course is enjoyable and we thank him for his hospitality!

I will be back on Monday with the final results from the week.

Thanks as always for playing here on the Refuge Tour

And we’re back!

@David_is_Goliath Invitational - WEEK 8 UPDATE

Big thank you to @David_is_Goliath for hosting this week, and we hope everyone enjoyed the course! Based on scores, it was more of a challenge than Harbour Town, which is a good thing I think.

Individual flight winners:

  • Young Hitters: @BlakeG hits back with a very convincing win. I have to say it’s been fun this season watching the challengers rise up only for Blake to come back and body bag everyone.
  • C-Suite: @PullFade pulls out the narrowest of victories, it all came down to the last round
  • Strapped: @Whitebro takes it in a scorecard playoff, that final round has him beat @duffing_in_detroit
  • LPCP: @TGray is the only player in LPCP under par at the end, and fired 2 out of the 3 under par rounds in the flight, well played!

No new qualifers, we are nearly to the end of the season so I don’t expect an influx of new or returning players until next season.

A note here about the end of the season approaching and the championship for transparency - for prizes I will be making the podium winners fully custom stamped ballmarkers. I know it’s not shop credit, but I hope I can help create something you’ll like and consider it a thank you for playing on the Tour.

We’re off to finish up Silly Szn with another gem from evenprime with EP’s Crossing. I hope the fantasy courses have been enjoyable this season, and next season will feature more EP. If anyone has suggestions for wacky and wild courses to check out, please let me know!

Mind the gap

The good news is that there are plenty of rooms at the inn!

Word of advise, pull up the overhead map and see if you can find the hidden fairways and shortcuts.

Thanks as always for playing here on the Refuge Tour

What a wild week. Thought I played terrible and end up losing in a playoff. Other weeks feel strong and I finish 4th.

God, this course is maybe my favorite. I love silly szn. This is the sort of nonsense and 299.9 yard cary bullshit I strive to eventually put in a curse of my own.

Half the greens being funnel pins means this is 100% a tee shot/ball striking competition. 1 putt is frequen. 2 putts is basically guaranteed…

Unless you forget to take the pin out and bounced a 3 foot putt off the pin. That’s gonna haunt me

Yeah it was the own goaliest of own goals. Don’t forget often but when I do it hurts

I think I’ve got it default pin out, although I really wish it would let you pull the flag on chip shots sometimes.

Looks like Valley Slice came in hot late and posted their scores… @Jeff_M

I had a “I can see the Matrix…” moment for a few holes there. having exactly 0 wind helped a bit

I did post last week as time expired. Started the first round with 45 min until it closed and finished round 3 right as the new week started at 6pm. Then proceeded to Tin Cup the driveable par 4 on the front during the silly szn course and take a 9 in round 3.

There is obviously a happy medium, but given a choice between silly SZN and Harbour Town (and the like) give me silly SZN 10/10 times. It’s just more fun to play things that don’t (and sometimes can’t physically) exist in real life

That might be the greatest back 9 I’ve ever seen…

Thanks for the heads up. Since the scores weren’t posted by the deadline the points won’t count and there won’t be a win, but the scores will still be factored into the handicap/strokes gained calculations. cc @valleyslice

It felt very Speithy

Like the greats before us have always said, if you can hit a full shot off a bridge without dying, you’ll be alive to contend.
