PGA 2K23 Refuge Tour - Info Post #9562 - S24 Begins 11/25

Refuge Tour - Butt Cup Season 19 Winners:

1st Place: @Tibbs
2nd Place: @bert
3rd Place: @PullFade

Low Gross: @kmart796 absolutely golfed his ball and pulled ahead in round 2, and would not be caught.

Please allow the tournament committee some time to get everything in order, and someone should be in touch to go about getting you all your winnings.

As of now, the plan is for a couple of off-weeks, I will consult with the rest of the admins and we’ll devise a plan for a new season. Expect a couple pre-season events that may serve as qualifying for new players. Returning players, you will start in the same flight you ended Season 19 in.

Bet I could find literally dozens of issues with this

Wow, played my rounds early in the week and definitely did not expect to finish top 3. Was only ahead by 2 strokes when I posted with the majority not having played yet. FWIW I was -31 thru 64 and played the final 8 holes at -9 to sneak into the lead.

Big shoutout to @Jeff_M for another well run season!

Glad you got your victory out of your system early this week

Or maybe I’m just getting started haha. Either way, this weekend’s gonna be a blast.

Some day I’ll tell my non existent children about my 3rd place finish in the Butt Cup playoffs. Some will say I had a bit of a home course advantage, but those people are just lashing out and that’s okay.

But seriously, shout out to @Jeff_M and the crew for organizing this each season and giving me something to do on my day off.

TOUR INFORMATION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Welcome new and returning players, this will be the information post for our fourth season on 2K23. The new season is scheduled to begin on 10/16 with a pre-season event that new players can use as a qualifier - Event 1 officially kicks off on 10/24. This season will run through the end of the year and the Butt Cup Championship will be held after the new year.

This is the new spreadsheet, if you are a NEW player please sign up by adding your Refuge handle to the Flight Status-Player List tab. The first event of the season will be your qualifying (if you played/signed up last season, you are still on there and assigned to your flight):

(course setups are imminent, I will get the first couple on here tonight)

General Information:

  • Events run Tuesday to Sunday, Mondays are maintenance days for flighting new players and to update season points. See the Schedule tab in the spreadsheet for the full season schedule with dates for each event.
  • Tie breakers for 1st place in each flight are (in order): Final round score, penultimate round score.
  • Battlefield flight promotion after 3 wins is in effect through event 5, after that there will be no movement. A battlefield promotion will carry over half points.
  • The playoff at the end of the regular season is a full field event which is handicapped based on season performance.
  • In order to qualify for the playoff, you MUST have played in a minimum of 6 events if you played the two majors, 7 events with 1 major, or 8 events with no majors. This requirement is to meet the minimum number of rounds to calculate your handicap.

Prizes for the podium places of the Butt Cup are TBD. I will make something happen one way or another.

*NOTE: The Commissioner (Jeff_M) is not eligible for prizes. If he places on the podium of the playoff, the prize will be pushed to the next eligible player.

Tour Player Rules:

  • No chipping on greens unless your path to the hole is impeded by rough, sand, etc.
  • If you do not post a score in the spreadsheet for an event, it will be deemed a DNF. Each week I will try to go through and remind folks who have blank spots, but please do your best to keep up with this so scores and points can be totaled in a timely manner.
  • Use your best judgement and don’t be a scumbag.

New players joining mid-season:

  • Qualifying is open through the season, sign up by adding your name to the Flight Status - Player List tab in the spreadsheet. The current event will serve as your qualifying.
  • First, find the NLU society in the game on your platform. The society should be called NLU Refuge Tour. We are on PC, Xbox, and Playstation.
  • Take note of the difficulty settings so you know what to expect. You can find this info on the Difficulty Settings tab in the spreadsheet
  • Take note of the Rules, you can also find a tab for this in the spreadsheet
  • Play the current event and post your scores as a Qualifier to the appropriate event tab.
you will be flighted depending on your finishing position in the event.
Last note here, the in game society events run on GMT, they start at midnight GMT and end at 1am GMT. Just pay attention to this and the dates on the Schedule to ensure you don’t miss playing an event.

Can someone throw up the qualifier on PS4?

If needed, players are able to set up solo rounds to play, just use the course settings as laid out in the Schedule

If we do the preseason event, does the score for that go into event 1? Just asking because the event wasn’t set up for me in the society, so I’m doing it manually

Oops, thanks! I made another sheet for the pre-season, if you already entered scores they are there.

We ready for a new season?

@valleyslice there weren’t a lot of scores to compare against for your pre-season qualifying rounds, but based on the few scores that are there and historical data I am good to put you in C-Suite, welcome to the Tour.

We’re kicking things off with the Big Bass Open at Lower Fishing Lake GC. Below is a brief synopsis from the designer:

The course features wide fairways, large greens, and numerous hazards throughout your round to avoid. The shoreline comes into play on several drives, may the tempo gods smile kindly upon you. There’s often a preferred angle into some of the pins/greens so smart play will be rewarded.

  • 4 par 4s under 400 yards (1,6,13,17)
  • 4 greensites within 200 yards (1,7,8,11)
  • at least 2 bunkerless holes (7,15,16)

Can you preplay events that are on the schedule if/when you have time to make sure you have scores on the spreadsheet? Just curious, forgot how quick you can roll through 18 solo apposed to playing someone on ranked for 9 holes.

General rule is to play the events in the time window that they are open, but if you are going to be unavailable to play during an event, it is ok to play ahead the week before. Feel free to get as many practice rounds in as you like though!

Are we rolling tonight?
I like jumping in cold after not playing the game for a few weeks.
Just calibrate and go.

I don’t think it ever went up on PS, which may have impacted this.

Yep event should be live, if not the settings are there for those who want to go ahead and set up a solo round. Tradition dictates that at least one platform society doesn’t have the event there yet
