PGA 2K23 Refuge Tour - Info Post #9562 - S24 Begins 11/25

I need to step my game up and move up from CC-G, don’t know what it is moving from Pro to Master difficulty but it shouldn’t be that much different

I find that swing path and putting are the biggest changes when moving up to Master. They seem to be much more forgiving on Pro.
Timing you are either precise or not regardless of the difficulty

4 rounds at this track is nasty business.

Figured I’d give the people some proper golf before silly season begins

Welcome! I made an Elite cut for the first time in a month, hopefully means I’m out of the wilderness

UKWBOPBHMTK (2025 preview) - WEEK 5 UPDATE

We had some conditions at Royal Porthcawl, between that and watching Walton Heath and Bel-Air on tv it’s been a decent week of golf, swamp ass inviational aside.

Individual flight winners:

  • Young Hitters: @BlakeG hits back and clips @WhineyCracker52 by 3, some seriously impressive golf played by several at the top of the YH leaderboard.
  • C-Suite: @BoomBaby812 pulled a bit of a gap this time, double digits under par the last 3 rounds, especially in the very high winds is quite decent.
  • Strapped: @ChuckV247 notches his third W and will be promoted up a flight to C-Suite. Flights are locked from here in, so plenty of time to earn more points. (scorecard playoff win against @Jeff_M, having the lower round 3 score)
  • LPCP: @snaphookleft just plays solid, consistent golf to lock up LPCP

@RichT and @icaritos_revenge, if you played rounds 2-4 please remember to post your scores, as they do count towards handicapping for the playoff at the end of the season.

@BMarsh is either a generational talent shooting 294 over par or was simply posting total score. I will assume the latter, the score is adjusted to 10 over total and will be flighted into LPCP.

Links szn continues for one more week with a visit to Galloway Port Authority, brought to us by @Talented_Mr_Yipley. Please enjoy this brief history of the course written by the designer:

Around two hundred years ago, the brotherhood of stevedores and other assembled tradesmen in the modest port town of Galloway came together to transform a rugged, rolling dunescape tucked between their busy east and west shipping docks. What resulted was a simple six-hole golf course and, more importantly, a town common area for themselves and their families to enjoy.

As the town blossomed into a bustling port city over the generations, so did its golf course. Numerous high-profile early architects were rumored to have put their stamp on the property as it transitioned into the 18-hole routing that exists today, but none would put their name to it. None wanted to take even a modicum of attribution away from the course’s two true designers: Mother Nature, and that early group of proud townsfolk whose calloused hands helped uncover the beauty beneath the thatch and scrub.

Today the course is operated and maintained by the local port authority and open to the public seven days a week. Tuesday through Saturday it belongs to the golfers, but on Sunday and Monday it is returned to all Galloway residents to use as they please.

Enjoy!

I found this thread the same day I saw that pga2k23 is the free game of the month on PS5. What luck. 10 days in and I can confirm you are all as better at me in virtual golf as you are in real life. Looking forward to getting my teeth kicked in from the comfort of my couch for a change.

cheers-beer

I just logged a +4 in the first round and think that’s the best I’ve done so far!

No clue where to log my scores this week…is this event 6?

Correct, we’re on event 6 currently

It’s good to have someone back in the league who is as bad with the spreadsheet as thruby was.

For some reason I thought this round of the scoring had four scoring rounds so seeing the 3 for week 6 threw me off.

Gotcha, no worries. We do 2 “majors” per season which are 4 rounds, normal events are 3.

You know I came out feeling pretty good after round two and had a plus two, which for me is a pretty good round in this thing and then this third round…I’m +8 through 15. Whoever chose these settings is just a bad dude.

Ended up +7…hated it.

Played some practice rounds today and this week is going to be chaos…

Links Szn - WEEK 6 UPDATE

Big thank you to @Talented_Mr_Yipley for hosting us at Galloway Port Authority to close out links season this year, it was a treat!

Individual flight winners:

  • Young Hitters: @BlakeG maintains no. 1 this week
  • C-Suite: @wseitz26 has been sniffing at the top of the leaderboard all season, jumped out to an early lead and fended everyone off.
  • Strapped: @PullFade is back with another W after starting the season with one.
  • LPCP: @Aham13 went nuts and kept the hammer down, by the end it was not close

We’re on to Silly Season, starting with Firelands Canyon. This course and the next two are basically what happens when you put a golf course where a golf course has no business being, often on an alien landscape. I’m looking forward to seeing what carnage awaits the field, I think and hope it will be a nice break from the “realistic” courses we normally play, and I hope to sprinkle these courses in more often.

Perfectly normal view off the back of the clubhouse

Please use the handholds on the way to the first tee

Missed an easy birdie putt on 1 and thought to myself “that’s alright. There’ll be plenty more.”

There were not plenty more.
