Olympic Prolific (Tacoma, WA): May 14-16, 2021 - Fog, Sunburns, Presses, Beers, and Golden Chambers

I recommend bringing extra water for chambers. There is no shade and the long walk makes you drink more than normal. I always keep my hydro flask on me plus 2 bottles for the walk and do a refill on the turn.

Just making sure I’m following… do you mean water from South of the border… I mean tequila by the way!

Went this morning and practiced at chambers and they are very excited for us to be there. They also told me barstool is there this Thursday for a similar event but they won’t be getting conditions like we will. Also spoke to Shane, the assistant at home course, and he said they are limiting rounds played starting this week until the four ball tournament to ensure the course is pristine so we will be getting mega tournament vibes out there.

Go on… They ramping it up next week?

Yes they have been working on the greens and getting them into shape for the four ball and they are starting to firm things up there. It will be getting really fiery the week we play. Those guys will be coming in for practice rounds and so it will be chefs kiss

I will be on Team Bucket Hat at Chambers regardless of weather. I’ve gotten too many sunburns on “cloudy” days and do not a case of dehydration on top it to ruin my day there.

I’ve made this mistake twice, make sure that if you wear a bucket or an aussie, you also bring a dad hat or you risk being turned into a sail when the wind gets up.

Oh yes I will be on a multi-hat strategy for sure

Pure curiosity… and obviously to each their own… but how many plan on walking day one. I’m all about walking the Home Course, looks beautiful. Just nervous about 36 at Chambers the next day. Bit of a Catch 22 I suppose. Is everyone in shape enough to do that; or is it possible for someone who walks 18 one to three times bi weekly? I’ve got all the gear, medicine, foot powder, etc… but would love to hear from folks who have done a bender like this before and how in shape they were. It’ll be my first time doing it as a full time walking golfer.

Home course and gold mountain are tough walks. Honestly I think they are tougher than chambers due to distance between holes and the elevation change. Personally when I play the Olympic at gold mountain I normally cart it, just to enjoy the golf a little more. Home course is hit and miss, normally I walk it but there is some lengthy walks between tees especially between 13-14 it’s about an extra par 5 between the green to tee.

I usually walk every round I play, and I play the Home Course 1-2 times a month. Agree with cqueen in that there are definitely some long walks between holes on both courses, but wouldn’t agree they are harder than Chambers (it hates glutes).

Last time I did the stay and play we walked our morning rounds and rode our afternoon rounds, and walked 2x Chambers. I think you can pretty comfortably play it by ear on the day but I would try and walk all the courses once if you can.

This time I plan on walking every round, and just lightening the load with a half set in the arvos.

The Home Course is a MEGA easy walk with just the one long transition from 12 to 13.

Gold Mountain is quite easy as well, with the hill you play up on 4 and the walk up after 18 being the most challenging parts, yet I almost always walk there, too.

Chambers will challenge your feet, achilles, and glutes, but it’s walking only, so you just embrace the pain

Maybe that’s why I always think it’s an easier walk because I know there is no other option :joy::joy::joy: I’ve just always struggled at gold mountain. Home course isn’t a bad walk. Like you stated just the one long walk between the 12 and 13.

If I don’t ruin my body and soul, was it really a golf trip?

Is the liver included in the body part of that statement?
