Here is the poster I was talking about in the car
Are we allowed to discuss WV Bunkering? Because I have some takes
I’m always ready for bad takes
Don’t hit it there
Though, @Adamreuhl knows how good my up and down out of the front left bunker on 17 was on Sunday
I love the wine valley bunkering.
They are the right mixture of penal and strategic.
Are they rough around the edges? hell ya
Are they shaggy and inconsistent? hell ya
Should you hit them there? Hell no. play better
Oh. Ok. Great take bub
Maybe the best part is it’s not just “don’t hit it there.” It’s that you have miles of short grass to hit it, or even miss it. You never have to truly take any of them on if you choose not to, except maybe the wash crossing on 5 and the par 3, 14th. If you go in any of them, you fucked up!
We were up on 13 (I think) and saw @RyMo hit a 50 yard bunker shot on one knee out of the bunker to 3 feet. I can see why he likes them.
I loved hitting out of them in the fairway
i did not love hitting out of it from #4
No doubt an absolute class up and down!
I was waiting for @jasonnutter to post more pictures for the recap, but these 2 are good enough!
Thank you to everyone that showed up for OP3! All 3 of them contain some my favorite moments over the years. The replay round on Chambers in OP1. The playoff duel between @Adamreuhl and @Generational3Putter at OP2. Wine Valley continuing to show out as maybe the best course in the state, and Jamie hoisting the blades high in triumph after the @fishtopher18 KP this time.
But, maybe the best moment of all: our Aussie lad, @rabsie, holding the trophies, and just happened to be wear a fit matching the Squid-made trophy.
Chris has, for years, been one of our core players, showing up consistently to meetups and random tee times. This consistency goes all the way back to our first formal meetup at White Horse right before COVID shut everything down. Even when he fought a harsh two-way miss earlier this year, you knew if you played with him, he’d still bring the positivity. I felt honored to be able to call him a friend, and now, I’m also honored to be able to call @rabsie the OP3 champion.
@Privatecollection, a supreme gentleman now holds the NIT invite. I hope he can make it to Frisco!
I hope I will see you all again and more next year at Gearhart
Missed this on the first read through…sick
In for Gearhart. Out for Great Wall.
Where will you get a grilled cheese then??
I almost forgot!
We finished out at $2670 raised for Tyler, the Super, and his family.
@Tippy knows him well and is getting the money to his family as quick as he can after he finshes his work trip to Old Barnwell and Augusta National
Have not attended an OP yet…but next year is the year. Even bigger upside is Gearhart.
Where else can you get the worst crab dumplings I’ve ever had?
