Absolutely, Your Grace.
He goes by a number of four-letter names as well.
You caught the wrong day. We were vibing to Motown out there (and dying in 100 degree heat). 10/10 would play again. Sands, quicksands, night at the inn, sands again is the perfect little weekend golf trip.
Would you feel differently about TGIFridays?
Quicksands is the par 3 at Gamble Sands.
Sounds like the music does change from time to time…we played there on two different days and heard the same 6 songs on defecate, I mean, repeat.
Honestly, I’d probably shit on any song that talks about hot wings and jalapeno poppers. But probably have more empathy for TGIFridays workers…on the account of the mandatory flair non-requirements.
Sorry, they play music … on the golf course?
Hmmm…maybe by playing crappy music, they are making the case for music to be banned on all golf courses. Interesting conspiracy theory.
We have an answer.
$28k plus tax… rough guessing 80 attendees… about $400 a person for a course buyout for a Friday
Gonna ditch that idea haha
Big yikes
I know the logistics and money up front is massive, but thats actually not bad considering a normal round is what 300?
Very good point, but if there’s another $300 or so in the cards for the event itself plus flights and lodging it’ll quickly approach prohibitively expensive
no doubt, especially rallying that many people in this community, but also you get 120 people out there with a sunrise at 6:30 and sunset at 7:30, you could easily put 100-120 people out there. Bring it down to 250,300 per person. If a local company was looking to do it, or something like a golfers journal 1 day its a no brainer
Imagine the credit card points…
We were quoted (for a September Friday)
Normally: $275/player plus taxes for 18.
Group rate if booked before the end of year: $200/player plus tax ($230) for 18 holes and $295 plus tax for 36 holes (same-day replay)
Group rate if booked in 2022: TBD
There’s a reason the guaranteed 36 hole day on Saturday is not at Chambers
You’re doing the Lord’s work here buddy. Very hopeful I can make it happen next year.
Yes they play music on the Quicksands course. When I was there in September 2021, it was a lot of 70s stuff.
Alright y’all. Update time:
I’ve got a soft block available for the weekend of Sept. 16-18 at Chambers. They don’t have any tourneys/events that weekend.
The question I have for yall now, specifically the non-locals driving/flying in, is would you rather have the competition be Saturday & Sunday morning? Or Friday and Saturday?
With Chambers being a walking only course, it’s not really possible to have a shotgun at Chambers. And with max size of the field being in the 80-88 range, 20-22 tee times is gonna stretch a lot of the day. That means at least half of the field likely won’t get “Golden Hour” on Friday.
Would it be better to have Friday afternoon as the “optional day,” have Saturday at Chambers and a shotgun at Gold Mountain on Sunday morning?
The original idea of tee times at both Olympic and Cascade and flip is probably out. Again, the field is likely just too big. Also, Cascade is now getting a TLC renovation to make it as good as Olympic and so I think it’s best to avoid it next fall. Shotgun is gonna have to be the way. Gonna shoot for a catered lunch at GM and possibly do awards there whether it’s Saturday or Sunday. The parking lot hangout vibes won’t be possible with 80+ people. 2021 will always be special that way.
Here’s a poll and then would love some comments, especially non-locals.
Cheers,
Matt

Whatever you set up, gonna try like hell to make it! Might be leaving in PDX again by Sept, so drive up fairly easy. If not flight from ABQ, likely Thursday either way.
