Been away for a while. Golf has been the furthest thing from my mind.

Our property flooded and my wife’s school lost their whole athletic complex to the flood.

We’re planning on playing our match next Saturday if that is ok with everyone.

Damn dude, that’s awful. If you guys need anything, or if the school has some kind of fundraiser going on, be sure to let us know so we can throw some support their way

I’m so sorry that happened. I hope things recover for you quickly

We’re good. Just a lot of debris to clean up and grass to plant at our house. Sink hole continues to grow, but shouldn’t be an issue for our house. As far as we can tell the neighbors drain failed and all hell broke loose while we were sleeping. We just woke up to mud.

The field is being looked at by the installer today. Initial word is it (and the playground) just needs a good scrubbing and all the debris removed. Because it sits in the flood zone it is filled with sand and not rubber pellets. They plan on using it in 6 week.

Softball field is FUBAR. It is still dirt, and they’re likely going to need to dig the whole thing out and refill with whatever they use for the field.

Baseball is a partnership between the school, the city, and the Reds. It uses the rubber fill. Not sure what the fix is there.

It is a very proud and resilient community. You have to be living in the flood zone. They have the mother of all parties/golf outings ever summer. There is a waitiist.

@JDR9 and I got out this Masters Sunday early at Rolling Meadows to sneak our match in before the deadline.

Josh mentioned it was his first time playing on grass this year, but you wouldn’t have known it. Luckily, we both had our tee and short games working which made for a great match. Only 5 of our 17 holes were halved, and the biggest lead by either player was 2UP.

Here’s some highlights:

After a short frost delay, we started our day on the first hole, a par 5. A couple of drives down the middle followed by some nice second shots left us short pitch shots into the green. I buried a 15 footer to win the hole and go 1 up.

We halved the next 3 holes with some mega up and downs. Josh was locked in over almost every 5-12 footer he looked at today and I was chipping my ass off, which isn’t my usual strength.

I birdied the par 5 fifth to go 2 up. Josh then made par on the short par 4 6th while I hit a poor approach shot and made bogey. I was 1 up at that point.

A tidy par 3 7th by us both led to halving with pars. I think the 8th is the hardest hole at RM, a 460 yard dogleg right from the back tees. I promptly sent a drive into the right trees and had to take a drop. Josh took advantage of the opportunity and took that hole to even the match. He followed it up by making a tidy par on 9 and letting me 3 putt my way to bogey. Josh takes a 1 up lead to the back 9.

Josh and I played some mostly stinky golf on holes 10-14, trading bogeys to give the other the hole. He made a fantastic 10 foot comebacker to halve the hole on the par 5 14th. Josh still 1 UP.

The 15th and 16th are both shorter 4s that circle around a pond. I hit the green and Josh missed left on 15. I then blow my birdie putt by around 10 feet, but make the one coming back to save par. I evened the match when Josh couldn’t get up and down.

We had the wind at our back on 16. I played the aggressive line and went for the green. Josh took the smart line and hit the center of the fairway, then followed it up with a shot around 10 feet away for birdie. My ball ended up just short of the fringe. I hit a chip to around 3 inches for a kick in birdie. Josh’s putt needed another foot of pace and just missed on the low side. Zac 1 Up

17 is a par 3 of around 195 in length. However, we’ve got a heavy wind at our back. I hit 6 iron on the green and Josh ends up short left. Josh fails to get up and down and I convert a 2 putt to win the match, 2 & 1.

Truly one of the most fun matches I’ve ever played. We both brought our games and traded haymakers all day. Thanks to @JDR9!

Myself and @JBair31 got out this afternoon to play our match before the deadline. On what started as a sunny day in Dayton we play community hills course we played from the tips or blue tees. Jared took a lead out the gate with a par on the first. I brought us back to even on the second then got out to a lead through the next few holes. I had an actually decent round of golf and Jared can hit the shit out of the ball but didn’t seem to catch any breaks on the greens today. We had a good round of golf it just wasn’t to be for Jared as I got the lead to four with three to play and closed our are match on 15. It was a good round of golf with Jared and one of his buddies that joined us and I would be willing to tee it up with him again in the future.

Well written up Zac. Super fun match with mostly good golf played. Enjoyed the walk and chopping it up with you.

I went off Community at 10:20 yesterday. We ended up behind 9 groups of seniors playing 2 man scrambles. Lots of waiting around but I thought Community was in decent enough shape for all the weather we’ve gotten and all the traffic that course gets. A couple of rough greens but it could have been much worse.

Fun day for sure. My putter may find its way into timeout…

Now that I have caught my breath from Rory’s W, I can do the write up for @beaumeyer and I’s match we played yesterday morning.

Where: The Ridge Golf & Gardens, Marysville

It was a frost delayed start for us, and, when we did get to start, we were met with an opening par 3 that saw us both get opening doubles. After another push on 2 thanks to one of my four strokes, I went one up on 3 before quickly giving the lead back on 4.

I had the short game dialed in from then on and hit a few chips close plus rolled in a couple putts and all of a sudden I was up 4 after 10, with 4 pars and 1 birdie in those 6 holes.

Just when I thought the match was a done deal, Beau started hitting some great shots and was able to get it back to 2 down after the 15th hole. I was definitely starting to feel nervous, but managed to push the next two holes to win 2&1 after 17.

It was a really fun round and a really great public
course if you have never played there!

Did either of you hit it in the pond in the middle of the fairway on #3?

Coaching my high school team 10 years ago around that place was a struggle. That hole and a couple of the dogelg layups with water was a challenge. My son played there last year and it’s improved a lot but that pond still needs to be blown up.

@methridge and I had our first round match at Los today, with @Cramptcm joining in on the fun.

Mike got 15 pops and conditties were TOUGH. Wind was consistently 15-20mph with gusts well over 30mph. Greens also were firm enough to not hold most approach shots and were rolling fast.

In pretty standard fashion, I was 2 down through 2 holes. I settled the ship and clawed back to make the turn at all square. Back-to-back horrific drives from me on 10 and 11 resulted in me being 2 down again. I had some good holes down the stretch, but just didn’t have the game today to overcome the wave of pops. Mike won 3&2.

Overall it was a very fun afternoon, vibes were 10/10. Every time I play there, the more I want to get a membership at Los hah. Thanks again for the invite gentlemen!
