North Star Shootout 3 (Stillwater, MN): 2022, July 9 - StoneRidge GC - AM TEE TIMES #843

This is what was used for the Highlander:

That was for stroke play though. How does team quota work, do you just divide the cumulative quota based on the above formula by 2 to get the team quota for best ball?

Is there even a benefit to playing quota as, opposed to stroke play, in a team event that’s best ball? The quota game seems to be aimed at keeping people from lighting themselves on fire score wise by not penalizing big numbers. Is that same goal accomplished by best ball and having a partner, and therefore the goal of quota has been accomplished by a different means?

Are partners randomly assigned or can you sign up with a partner?

First of all, welcome to the Refuge. @Battisstatus will greet you properly in due time - he’s the official unofficial welcome wagon of the North Star United and my consigliere.

Second, I’m angling toward a live draft selection for teams - I randomize the names, pull one at a time over Zoom, and that person gets to pick their partner.

Welcom @kurtzh17

Where are you from and who is your favorite TV sitcom Dad?

Tell us more about your game? Gotta give the field a scouting report so they can make informed selections come draft day.

Appreciate the warm welcome from yourself and @bignanski ! Originally from Wisconsin, but moved up to the Twin Cities back in Summer 2020 for my first job out of college. Favorite sitcom Dad has to be Frank Reynolds from Always Sunny; just an absolute degenerate. Honorable mention has to go to Red Forman. The golf game is unfortunately akin to the Merch Czar’s. Bursts of brilliance, but the big right miss is always lurking. I did hit the mega bonus for the first time in my career last summer, and didn’t have to play from the one-ups. Handicap is sitting at a very generous 2.9. Shaq has more success from the line than I do from six to ten feet.

I know the draft is coming up here in the near future.

Here is your scouting report for anyone considering drafting me

1.) constant positivity. I will hype you up. If you’re not into that sort of thing, you will not like having me as your partner.
2.) not big on music on the course. If it’s your thing, that’s ok, but it isn’t mine.
3.) I’m scrappy. I will grind out there.
4.)I have been putting in work with the big stick this winter. We will see if it pays off.
5.) I LOVE TEAM GOLF
6.) Team Blue

Love look at my house preparing for the draft.

I’ve been watching film, studying the tapes from last years shoot out, from the Frozen Fourball and other various meet ups.

Talking with my scouts about the course and what qualities will be of highest value.

@bignanski are trades allowed?

I mean, I guess if you get drafted by someone you don’t like you could ask for a trade? It’s a two-man team Batty haha

Listen, fer sure. I just want to know if there’s a possibility that I could get traded for a sleeve of golf balls to someone who hasn’t picked yet

When is the draft?

Next couple weeks. I need to set a cutoff number and want to have as many as possible on Zoom for it rather than doing it post by post here, so people gotta be able to attend
