In 1998, David Duval had finished and was in the scoring area when Freddie and O’Meara played 18. DD had the clubhouse lead and was if MO missed, would have been in a playoff. The scoring official saw where MO’s putt was from and told DD not to worry that no one made that putt.
I wonder, if MO misses and DD wins in a playoff, what happens in the 00s.

Forgot about Brandt Snedeker having a chance too - hearing Soly & KVV talk about Adam Scott in 2011 made me want to go back and re-live the ending of 2013, and I completely forgot that Sneds played in the final group with Cabrera that year. Wasn’t he also in the final group somewhere around '07, '08 or '09?

The sound guy crawling around behind the couch to get Watson the lapel mic in Butler cabin is the real MVP. You can tell Cliff Roberts was off-site for this one as he would have had someone killed.

It’s wild to me how Tom Watson, one of the greatest champions of any era, was basically seen as a gutless choking dog by the press even after he’d won a major. In 1977, a year that he won two majors, he had to answer more questions about choking than Phil did over the course of his entire career.

It was funny to hear the way they wrote about Ray Floyd laying pipe and compare that to the crickets about Arnie. He was Tiger Woods 1.0, only it wasn’t even a well kept secret, and got treated with kid gloves (still does).

He takes forever to get over the putt… and then it feels like he kinda rushes it once he does? It’s just really bad all around. Honestly maybe one of the toughest golf shots to rewatch. Like watching a car crash but it takes a full minute.
