I was a little dubious of this at first. It sounded like a bit of navel gazing. I couldn’t have been more wrong. @MerchCzar your top 10 list was the first thing in a while that made me excited for spring to come. The internet has been shitty even for the internet the last week. The top 10 list was a breath of fresh air.
Also, please get FanDuel to set an over/under for the number of courses in Tron’s top 10. I don’t gamble but I need to know that number. I’ll say 39.5 and I’d bet my 401k on the over if I did gamble.
I’m loving this pod so far. Neil and I have similar TPI issues, similar - ish speed potential, and are both newbies learning how to walk in tournament golf too
Neil/DJ/Soly talking about the steps to get your handicap down and much more about the process to get there as opposed to the result was fantastic. Loved hearing all of it and was super interesting and different.
I completely agree. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I heard the premise but was very pleasantly surprised.
Many of the details about Neil’s background been referenced before in passing but getting them in a full fledged narrative was really interesting to me.
Great format. @MerchCzar rules. @djpie you are crushing it with the hosting duties. @Soly please continue to drop low cap nuggies for the rest of us hacks to learn from. 11/10 on this pod
Haven’t even listened yet, but I’ll say I love when the gang digs into their personal golf stuff. I enjoy the wrap-up pro pods and everything but really is cool to hear about the similar journey that we’re all on to try to get better/just enjoy the game a bit more. Cheers!
Hell yeah, team Velo. 5 extra pouches, cheaper, and the regular dragon fruit flavor tastes just like Red Bull. It’s very annoying that the velo+ dragon fruit doesn’t taste the same, because the velo+ are awesome for how long they last
The favorite/least-favorite golfer question is interesting to me.
Mine might be slightly controversial, but:
Favorite golfer all time: Faldo.
Just watch him contemplate his approach shot on 13 in the final round of the 1996 Masters as he took down Third Leg Greg. It’s probably my favorite golf shot of all-time. His win in the 1992 Open Championship at Muirfield was so sick. I’ve watched that final round 3 times. That’s a big boy victory. Was he a bad guy? Maybe. Was he annoying to many as a color commentator? Sure. But damn, as a golfer, he was an absolute unit.
Great pod and I look forward to the rest of team getting involved.
In related news, I played golf with a bloke yesterday who had a towel clipped to his belt. I hadn’t witnessed such a thing in the flesh. An older fella with both an aspirational pace of play and beard alas Lucas Herbert’s caddy, a very enjoyable Monday morning round of golf.
Fantastic pods gents! Think it’s clear that pro golf is becoming unrelatable and a bit of a bore, but the game is alive and well in the am ranks. More airtime about your own games and golf on an attainable level to listeners is a great listen over what the mules are moaning about or which large public market can shovel more money to the games elite
