I don’t necessarily think everyone else’s riding a loose bike, but more that each bike is unique.
Oh yeah, my comment was all in jest. I’m a serious beginner.

Nope. If people’s numbers are better than mine, their bike is looser.
Oh this is so accurate
If other people have worse numbers than me the their bike is loose as well.
Not bad for 3 weeks with the bike and outside of walking the golf course, not really doing cardio before it showed up.
I’ve avoided doing many of her rides for the same reasons. HOWEVA she did a 10 min cool down / low impact ride as part of the Foo Fighters series and it was quite good. I do think she cried at the end but there wasn’t a lot of talking.
Correct. Sorry everyone doesn’t work as hard as I do.
Interesting. I think.
Wild times at Peloton right now
I have been wondering how much the instructors’ actual tastes go into the rides. Like is Kendall the one that does so many metal rides because she likes metal, or they just needed someone to do them and she was there?
I was thinking of this mainly because I was doing one of her metal rides the other day where one song is an Avenged Sevenfold cover of Paranoid, and she seemed to take a bit to think of who that was a cover of.
Don’t mean this in a gatekeeping way at all, I could not care less, like I said I don’t even really like metal that much anymore. Of course she could’ve just forgotten Black Sabbath. But it made me wonder if she was really like “god, I have to do this awful metal bullshit again.”
I know some other people here have commented on the extremely generic commentary other instructors provide on the music, as well.
Yeah, it’s all weird though - I used to take some Jenn Sherman rides, and she did a few Artist series and it seemed clear she was a massive fan of those artists, but … she was still clearly reading off of a description from Wikipedia about them. I wonder how much of that came from a ‘director’ or producer who thought that’s what it should be about.
To me, rides like the Foo Fighters, AC/DC, etc., are the best because the instructors clearly LOVE the bands and it’s pretty much just them playing the songs and getting into it, and it’s easy to lose yourself in the ride and not think about the work so much.
I think I’ve mentioned this before, but as the resident metalhead (who currently listens to and loves metal of all sorts), metal rides on Peloton are embarrassing. It’s whatever was on hard rock radio in 2007. I almost always avoid them. KT is by far the worst perpetrator of bad metal.
Oh for sure. I have mostly enjoyed them as a self-described former metal fan, so her playing mid-aughts Slipknot and SOAD is right up my alley. But it’s definitely not a real metalhead’s idea of metal.
Maybe it’s just hard to think of much to say about an artist while teaching, too, to be fair.
I am a huge Migos fan and took the AT artist series ride with Migos. It seemed pretty obvious that he was a legit fan, yet all he really said was “they are one of the most influential hip hop groups” like 6 times.
most of the instructors have a “niche” of music that tends to produce their best classes I think. Ben is into EDM/dance stuff, Emma is into alt/indie, Alex is into hip hop, etc. They teach other classes to widen their audience, but just like any other job they have specific areas they excel at.
Specifically, Kendall does much better with the dance/club/hip hop stuff than she does rock/metal I think.
I’m just a few episodes in Succession’s second season and this has some serious Kendall vs. the workers vibe.
New FTP acquired. Nice little bump up, not where I was at in 2019, but pretty steady and in the ballpark. Happy with that bc it means my fitness is staying pretty solid even as I’ve diversified my workout regimen and practice habits for golf.
Edit: looking at my historic numbers, the best I’ve ever been is 20% up from my first test, right now I’m at 19%. So I won’t likely go out and set all sorts of PRs, but I’m about a good as I ever was in 2019. Also, I don’t have data to measure, but I’m a lot stronger physically bc of the shift to cross training and core in 2019.
Nice work! I’ve got my FTP Test this weekend and it always helps to see other folks doing theirs at about the same time for my mental approach to the test.
