NLU Peloton Thread - Weekly Ride: 30 minute 2010’s Hip Hop Ride with Ally from 7/25/24

It really is. So is the tread.

I know Covid has largely killed this possibility for the moment, but I could see them doing a riding “concert” tour where they go around the country hosting large riding get togethers with their popular instructors as a source of new revenue. They could easily charge $100/session with popular instructors and add-on with meet and greet etc. I know they did this pre-covid in studio, but that was when the product was largely unknown.

Nothing of substance to add but enjoying this conversation. Would agree that a mass exodus of talent/clearing of catalog of classes of that talent would be what would move me off the platform at this point. We got the bike in June of 2020 and it’s gotten used weekly in one form or fashion since then in our house. We picked up some free weights and resistance bands and with a toddler it’s been a great replacement for the gym experience. The ability to get just about any type of workout in in a window of time between 5-90 minutes at home steps away from my desk is too good to pass up.

I definitely feel this.

If you’d asked me in February 2020 how I’d like to work from home permanently, I’d have said I’d probably get tired of it quickly and would prefer a job where I could do a couple days per week at most. Well, here we are in January 2022 and I’ve done a 180 and now I am extremely productive and enjoy working at home and don’t want to stop.

Similarly, I have enjoyed my Peloton experience so much so far, I have a hard time envisioning what would make me lose interest. Obviously I guess there are better full body workouts out there, but the convenience of being able to literally roll out of bed, put on whatever clothes, who cares, and go in the other room and get a great workout without leaving home is too attractive to turn down again. Cutting out the commute to the gym and having to be in public has really made “come on, it’s a quick work out, get it over with” much easier for me, and turned it into a thing I look forward to.

Just like a lot of people out there have gotten a taste of working from home and don’t want to go back, I hope that a lot of new Peloton users feel the same.

I agree with this :100:. I have two kids under 3 and peloton has allowed me to keep working out daily without interrupting life with them. Sure, I get up at 5:15 to ride or do a strength class, but I’m done and showered before either get up. If I had to drive to and from a gym before they got up, I’d be waking up at 4:30 if not earlier.

Peloton just needs more people to get Both the bike and the tread. Problem solved.

(After nearly 3 years on the bike and nearly having it paid off, we recently added the tread to our home. Peloton owns us again for another 3 years. We are pretty loyal to them, I guess)

They kind of already did this pre-covid with Homecoming weekend. A problem was it was unwieldy because it go so big within a few years that it lost its charm—

I’ve been a slob for the past week - eating like an asshole with very little exercise. So I decided to punish myself with an Olivia ride today.

Wanted to quick half way through, but it’s wild how much better you feel even after just one tough workout.

Fun ride this week. I’m trying not to worry about it, but my output continues to stink out loud so might be time to mix it up somehow.

I just bought the pivot and holy shit it’s awesome. $40 on Amazon and can swivel that screen like it’s nobody’s business. I’m super fired up for my strength class in the morning.

My girlfriend told me that on one of Cody’s rides last week the theme was “know your worth and get what you deserve” and now the rumor is that it was his not so subtle way of saying, “I’m your biggest star, it’s time to pay me like such.”

I’d not heard of the Pivot before but looks interesting. I’ve been using the Peloton app on my iPad for strength and stretching classes. I’ve got the original bike and my set up doesn’t allow me to see the screen easily. Good reviews on Amazon in the UK as well.

Anyone else have one of these?

I’ve had the bike since August and completed by 150th ride yesterday. Over the past 2-3 months, I’ve been riding 5-6 days per week and want to know how often others integrate recovery rides? I’ve been doing them 1x/week, but sometimes I’ll do a ride with intentional lower intensity (resistance).

This is exactly why we got our bike. I can be done with my workout in the travel time that it would take me to get to and from the closet gym.

You can also use the Peloton app on Roku to stream on your screen. Super easy.

I did Jess King’s live 30 minute David Bowie class last night. Highly recommend if you’re a Bowie fan. Or even a Jess fan. It was also my 50th ride. Now I want that damn tshirt for 100 rides lol. I am in week 2 of Emma’s 2nd core program, which has been killer for this fat kid. I know if I stick with it, I’ll start to see dramatic improvement.

Yes we’ve got the same thing in the UK. I can get the Peloton app on my SkyQ box but my bike and weights are on the top floor of the house and the TV is on the ground floor. First world probs for sure.

Probably not as often as I should. I tend to do them if I am A) hungover or B) have just travelled and haven’t been on the bike for a while as a way to ease myself back in. Probably not the best use cases.

I’m a massive Bowie fan and not a big Jess King fan but I will have to suck it up and take the class. Bowie is an all timer for me.
