I have a fan now, and I even turned up the speed this time.
New weekly ride! Should be a fun one! Thanks @EZmiss for the nomination of Leanne’s 30 Min Spice Girls Ride from 7/13/21. @ChickPhilA please update the thread at your utmost leisure.

When y’all come to brag about your output this week please also include what % of the ride you sang (either outloud or to yourself). No shaming. We’re all just striving to match @JamesHCard’s 100%. Personally I was at about 85% the first time through
I’ve taken this one and it’s super fun. It’s very cute seeing HOW excited Leanne is about it, and she talks about herself as a nine year old girl being OBSESSED with the Spice Girls. Note that one of the Spice Girls took the ride live too and there’s a special filter you can use to see how you’re doing against her. (Spoiler: You’ll do well.) Leanne is always a favorite of mine and while this isn’t really my favorite music, her enthusiasm is off the charts and made this really fun.
Looks like it might be time for me to get back on the bike! I only like using it in the winter, but for this I think I should make an exception.
Good ride to start the week after a couple days at the lake downing whiskey/cokes, burgers and hot dogs. #25, too!
Spice Girls up next!
After being a lurker on this thread and a tread convert, decided to #getinvolved on the bike this week. Scrawny boi output but it was a lot of fun!
My 30 minute PR is 278 and I’d like to get over 300 by the end of the year.
Back on the bike after a quick trip. They actually had a peloton in the hotel gym, but I had no time to ride. Finishing up the beginner series this week and was thinking about starting Emmas crush your core program. Will I be able to swing a golf club after the first week?
hell yes. since my last PR I set a new goal of 300kj avg, and of course Emma delivered.
next goal….550.
Hit this on Thursday and forgot to post! It was great fun, even for someone like me who barely knows any Spice Girls
Alright, I hopped in here and then left since my wife and I don’t have an actual Peloton. Now that we are officially Peloton owners, it’s time to jump back in and join the fun.
Some travel got in the way of doing the Spice Girls ride last week but I’ll for sure catch up and get that ride in this week. In the meantime this week’s ride is a pick from @EZmiss. Thanks for the pick! It is Jess King’s 20 Min 2000’s Ride from 7/21/21. @ChickPhilA please update the title when you’ve got a moment.

Does anyone have any takes on the power zone rides? I plan on using our new bike for road cycling training and was reading that the power zone classes are the best comp for road cycling training. It’s no Zwift, but have to use what we have.
TL/DR response regarding take on here: people hate the music, love the results, many use in their golf offseason.
I’m not a road cyclist but have been a PZ gui for going on 3+ years and I love it–most bang for your buck, great structure, great results.
Closest thing to cycling training that’s on there.
Can’t speak to the comps for road training (@marklemcd may be equipped to do that) but I am a big believer in the PZ classes in general. The “Discover Your PowerZones” is a good place to start but there’s also challenges that are not Peloton driven but easy to find (pzpack.com) and a good way to build a routine for your week and structured with some thought.
The issue for many is that there are only five instructors who do it - Ben just joined the PZ crew so he hasn’t done a ton of classes. And Matt Wilpers has done the most and is probably the best pure instructor but the music is awful. (And much of it is crowdsourced so I can’t even blame Wilpers). Denis is awesome but not for everybody, Olivia is pretty easy to like and Christine has great music but she’s an emotional mess. Apparently she cried recently during her Chris Cornell ride (non-PZ) and I just don’t want that from my spin instructor. Your mileage may vary.
So the drawback is you have to deal with instructors who MIGHT not be your favorite. But as far as training goes, I think it’s excellent.
@rkris @anon43372372 @greebs Thanks for the input! Sounds like I’ll be checking out the PZ classes once the bike comes. I do love Alex’s hip hop and club bangers rides, but it just doesn’t make sense for what I’m trying to accomplish.
F powerzones and their 60/90 min rides. F them to the moon.
I’ve been lurking on here while on the fence trying to decide if I should buy a Peloton. Pulled the trigger and it will be delivered on Thursday.
How do I get #involved with the Refuge group?
What is the TL/DR opinion on heart rate monitors? In addition to the Peloton, I’d use it for running. Looking at the Peloton brand and a Polar H10. If I go Polar, do I lose any functionality during a Peloton ride? Similarly, If I go the Peloton route, will I be able to use it for activities outside of the Peloton?
