Hope everyone had a great 4th! This week’s ride nomination is courtesy of yours truly that I added to the list a long time ago. Not sure why I nominated this in particular but you’re welcome in advance!
It’s is Denis’s 30 Min HIIT and Hills from 9/3/20. Enjoy!
Got the weekly ride in—tough to ignore the mind#!#^ of not being able to get near PRs these days, but in the plus side my streak of not missing a day working with the Peloton this year is still alive!
I try to keep in mind something Wilpers and Denis both talk about, how our bodies aren’t prepared to constantly always be improving on a straight line up - it’s hills and valleys, and even when you are working out regularly, you’re going to regress a bit as your body heals or you’re going through changes or other things in your external environment that have an impact. The important thing is to keep doing it - I’ve never even considered every day, but I try to ride at least 3-4 times a week and even that is tough sometimes. Way to go!
You’re right. And actually, my PRs came when I was playing less golf and riding PZ 4/5x a week with the goal of getting into the shape I’m in now so I could feel capable of playing more
tournament golf. That plan worked out really, my scoring average is down in part bc I’m physically capable of practicing and playing more. And, I just bit the bullet and signed up for one of my state’s Mid-Am qualifiers. #bigpic
To be transparent, I don’t spin every day—4x
A week, two other days are light rides/strength, one day is stretching and yoga for recovery. But I get in 45 minutes a day in some activity.
My wife and I officially caved and ordered a bike yesterday, covid has been tough on our midsections. I’m looking forward to wanting to die for a couple of weeks once it gets here.
Weekly ride update! Should be a crowd pleaser thanks to @edwardt2. This week is Emma’s Listening Party from 9/3/20. @ChickPhilA please update the thread when you can. Enjoy and have a great week folks!
Just a note that many of you probably know but I really can’t stress enough how good a Low Impact ride can be. Walked nine holes this morning with @marklemcd and wasn’t up for a leg wrecker ride but took a 45 minute Low Impact with Hannah Corbin and it was just a delight. Got a nice sweat but nothing brutal and stretched the legs out without making them too sore for a ride tomorrow. For sure it’s worth adding one into the weekly circuit.
Last re-test, have done the build your powerzones program since, two classes left before a new test Monday. My bike definitely overstates power/speed/distance/cals, but I’m using it directionally
I don’t like the same music Cody does but I fully agree that his classes are pretty fun. Genuinely laugh a few times during them because of his banter. That’s for sure worth something.
