NLU Peloton Thread - Weekly Ride: 30 minute 2010’s Hip Hop Ride with Ally from 7/25/24

Are you an intermittent fasting advocate? Seems interesting and have thought about it.

Is this the same as skipping breakfast? Or is there specific timing to it?

What does intermittent fasting achieve? Does it reduce the overall amount of food that you eat?

Paging @jas

I do 16:8

Is the goal to work through all of them or pick one?

I don’t think I’ve ever been more pleased to get into something I’m so mediocre at.

This is interesting to me. How is your bike calibrated to you? Did / does Peloton do something at setup to make sure it’s right? (this is me asking if my 240 outputs where I feel like I’m busting my ass are really 340, lol)

The refuge swayed me from “eh” to “we are getting one” in about 48 hours. Lol.

As a cyclist I always was skeptical of people that bought a Peloton. After reading this thread I admit I had it all wrong. Congratulations to all you guys and gals for riding indoors and getting fit. Indoor cycling has advanced tremendously over the past few years (I almost exclusively ride indoors these days because of it) and I’m glad the new technology has encouraged you guys to ride.

I haven’t done any calibration. It sits today as it was delivered to me. That said, there are a number of stories out there about bikes out of calibration (and peloton has a proprietary calibration tool and process).

There are certainly bikes that are WILDLY incorrect (a friend of mine was able to pedal at 85 cadence at 100 resistance and only showed 225 output). I’d imagine there is a window of tolerance that all bikes are operating within (and if i had to guess it’s not massively impactful… probably something like 3-5% variation).

I love the efficiency of it. I can get a really good workout in even 30 minutes with great instructors without leaving the house.

I don’t know anything about their actual bikes. Is the calibration a mechanical or electronic issues? What is the fix supposed to be?

better source of info on this topic than me:

I think the biggest advantage is the time savings - cyclists know all too well that any good ride is probably 2+ hours, and that’s not including prep time or washing your bike after a ride. Spin bikes or other forms of indoor cycling are pretty incredible at giving you the same amount of ass whooping in 45 minutes or less.
