NLU Peloton Thread - Weekly Ride: 30 minute 2010’s Hip Hop Ride with Ally from 7/25/24

Well that was more challenging than i expected. Heads up to all who plan on taking it: it’s a 30 min climb ride - ALL in saddle. Ouch.

I have been expecting a regular PZ ride or even a PZ Max. Do they come later? I think this is a six week challenge, yes? I’m “50% complete” after three weeks.

I do know that last week I felt sore for the first time in awhile after riding, which I was actually pretty happy about. But yeah, they are boring AF.

After using the public bikes at work for 7 months before getting our own bike, this is a welcome change. Glad they did that.

Depends on the program…I’ve ridden then 6/8 weeks when it was mostly PZE fo build base, then the next challenge will often feature more PZ/max.

All I know is don’t bitch about out on the FB PZ cult pages, they will eviscerate you for not loving everything Angie plans.

Builds character…

That’s easy enough, I’m not on Facebook. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made was to leave that toxic cesspool.

Didn’t think it was going to be that difficult when starting off and then about 6 minutes in I stopped enjoying it.

Also what’s our “official” refuge Peloton thread hashtag? I’ve been wearing #NLURefuge but didn’t know if that was the widely accepted one

But ya PR’d!

That’s the beauty of the climb ride.

Yes more folks use that tag so that’s the one to stick with

Apple making a play into the home fitness space with Fitness+ Should be interesting to see how this competition plays out over the next year or so.

Funny enough i am anti apple. I understand the draw of apple but its not for me.

At the same time happy to see peloton get a bit of a kick in the ass. I love the bike but haven’t been thrilled with the last few months and would also like to see a bit more competition. Feel like they have taken this market position a bit for granted.

Bike bootcamp begins today? LET’S GOOO!!!

Meanwhile I put my Apple Watch up on eBay this morning…

This apple thing isn’t gonna dent peloton. I predict fitness+ gets as much traction as the apple tv stuff does

Thats a bit of a stephen A claim, it will impact peloton the question is just how much.

Even as an apple hater, the watch has made some tremendous strides and with covid, it really enticing to the same user is would be interested in a peloton and has a stationary bike. Or the same user who has a peloton but no longer wants to pay $40 a month and uses the bike with fitness+.

I don’t think it is going to kill peloton but i do think with this and Zwift we will see peloton realize they aren’t the only one who can do this and hopefully that will bring down the price point of the monthly membership

I agree with this. Fitness+ seems more up my alley as the wife and I have the Bowflex C6 bike especially since the wife owns an apple watch and I own a Whoop.

They’re aiming at completely different markets. The person who wants a peloton wants the whole solution integrated, much like Apple does with other products. And they want the community. And they’re willing to pay a large premium for it. Apple is giving neither of those and is going for people who want to pay a small amount. Completely different user types.

I don’t see Zwift affecting peloton as well. Again, completely different customer profiles. I’ve used both, the use case for each is vastly different and now with the introduction of further gamification meant to make the experience more like outside, Zwift is less and less like peloton every day.

There’s room for all three, I don’t think any of them really aim at eachother. I’d say Apple’s feels a lot more like “oooo people can’t go to the gym let’s see if we can get some money from them” than a real strategic foray into fitness.

Is that why Peloton offers their fitness subscription with out the bike?
