NLU Peloton Thread - Weekly Ride: 30 minute 2010’s Hip Hop Ride with Ally from 7/25/24

You’re gonna hate me man, but…the calories they put on are not correct. Basically kilojoules = calories.

Our Peloton finally arrived today and was able to get a ride in. Looking forward to getting up to speed with it. My username is ERay88

I feared this might be the case, and so now I have to go throw up three candy bars.

Much much easier then that

  1. Each week someone (first come first serve) names a challenge on Sunday or monday to be completed by Saturday night. Change the title of the thread to the challenge and try not to do any rides longer then 45 min.
  2. If you do the ride, you completed the challenge.
  3. If you don’t no worries try to get it done a different week or just move on to the next week.
  4. Output doesn’t matter your only goal is just finishing the ride

And thats it. This is meant to be fun and keep some of us that need it some extra motivation to keep us on the bike. It also helps change up the instructors, music and type of class to hopefully get some variety in your life.

Sweet. I’m in. The challenge this week is the GD ride with Jen? My ex-wife is named Jen. How dare you? (Just kidding. I’m in.)

Did a low impact this morning. Tweaked something in my ankle/shin over the weekend so wanted to take it easy.

(Also then walked 18 tonight and re-messed up my leg booo. So taking a peloton and golf break to “rest” it for 2 days)

Boo @ChickPhilA rest up!

@KVV welcome! Seems like you got your bike quickly.

Here is your sporadic spreadsheet bump of everyone’s Refuge handles -> Peloton handles. Please add your info. (Original Credit to @JBors as I am too lazy at this point to scroll up)

“taking it easy” doesn’t mean walking 18 and doing a ride…

After 3 weeks of “remote” remote WFH and half PTO without the bike, back home with the bike and easing back in. I actually missed Alex while gone.

I did enjoy the strength and yoga classes using the app while out of town. Adrian, Andy, and Rebecca are great instructors for the strength work if anyone is looking to supplement rides with strength (dumbbells) work. Plan to do the challenge ride on Friday after hopefully (weather pending) a morning 18 tomorrow.

Did you ever find some? Thinking about pulling the trigger on some dumbbells but can’t find any for a reasonable price online.

Also, what weights did you end up getting? Never done a strength class so not sure what weight to use. I did power lifting for a while, so my thought is something in the 25-35 pound range.

I’ve really been into the bodyweight & core classes lately when I am away from the bike.

The short answer is, no. Everywhere is sold out of the adjustable dumbbells (Bowflex and PowerBlock). There are plenty of options on eBay and Amazon, but everyone has jacked up the price since demand is through the roof. I’m not paying $500-600 dollars for something that is normally $300-$350.

But some of the strength classes were getting a little tough to modify with my wife’s neoprene weights she uses for the bike (5lb and 8lb). So I finally caved and ordered a set of 35lb dumbbells. I figured that would be a good fit for most of the strength classes. They are scheduled to arrive this Friday. Ordered them from here: https://www.ritfitsports.com/. Pricing seemed pretty reasonable based on my limited research.

I use 10lb and 20lb dumbbells that I have had forever for the strength app work. I could use a set of 30lb dumbbells but as folks have noted, everywhere is sold out.

I mean I didn’t do anything on Monday lol. And nothing hurt during the Tuesday am ride. Then pressed my luck with the golf

I’m going to get it checked out today just in case. Can’t have it messing up something real bad before pinehurst trip!!

Weird question that just came about with work, and it may seem a little crazy:

Does anyone have a stand for a laptop that you can attach to your bike? I’d like to be attentive on days where I have to be accessible to constant emails, and while I am not going to push hard, want to sweat it out.

(After writing this, I realized that this makes me look like an absolute psychopath, which might be true)

Edit, it only took 30 seconds: Hustle Tray for Peloton Matte Black - Amazon (Link not wanting to cooperate)

Three spinning wheels of death messed up my ride, but I got it in

Not a huge fan of the Dead, but I like them, and this was a good ride. Anytime this old man is in the top 10% of the leaderboard, I’m happy.
