NLU Peloton Thread - Weekly Ride: 30 minute 2010’s Hip Hop Ride with Ally from 7/25/24

I will say that while I liked the music in this ride, most of Emma’s HIIT & Hills rides tend to have a little higher energy music than this one. Finished up yesterday at the same time as @rmaas91 .

Good work everyone thus far.

Not too bad of a birthday ride! @I_have_the_yips pushed me, and then lapped me!

Not a bad way to recover though…

Thanks for joining @Taylorda

Sorry i was late. What a ride, Thanks for picking it @HuckandPray

I actually PR’ed this one which was the first PR on the bike since i got my own. That was pretty sweet, i felt pretty good after the warmup and just kept the resistance a bit higher on everything Emma called out. I wasn’t a huge fan of the music choice but i did enjoy riding with Emma, he call outs, and personality was quite enjoyable. Will definitely be riding with her again. Plus she is quite attractive.

No scumbaggery here, did the cooldown and all

Glad to know you are neither a sociopath nor psychopath. I feel safer already.

I did a ride with Denis this morning where he spent the last few minutes of the ride ripping people who do this. I didn’t realize it was a thing as a new peloton rider but it was hilarious

Yeah, I think a good solution to this would be getting rid of the cooldown tbh. If we’re all being honest with ourselves, we should be doing 5-10 minute cooldowns with the legs moving after hard rides + stretching anyways so why not just fill that last minute with programming.

Different folks take their cooldowns at different outputs anyways. I usually do 2-3 minutes at like zone 3 to slowly take the pressure off + 5 minutes at 30,90. I’ve found that I’m pretty likely to pull a hamstring if I go from 400 watts all the way down to zone 1.

If they just did away with it, scum-bagging the cooldown just wouldn’t be possible.

I like it.

If you can’t enforce rules, change them. I use this tactic with my kids all the time.

Felt somewhat scummy because I did the first half of the ride last night before my 6 month old started screaming and couldn’t finish it so had to retake this morning. Numbers almost identical when the first one cut out to this one so what are you gonna do.

Enjoyed the ride but would’ve liked some higher tempo or angry music to keep it going.

TBH, I kinda wish they tacked on a 5 minute cooldown at the end of every ride using the same screen they do for the minute before a ride starts. The instructor doesn’t have to prep anything, just give us 5 minutes of the instructor cooling down with mental notes on what they’re thinking about.
