Did the ride this morning. I did take it down to 0 in between all intervals. I used my power zones 6 and 7 to estimate the very hard to hard and max levels.
Lots of sweat lol.

That’s one of the reasons I like PZ, it makes knowing how hard to ride on intervals simpler. Like you, I spent time hitting z6/z7.
I am due for another FTP test…which I am dreading…lol. Haven’t taken one since April…
That was … not fun at all! But effective. Felt grossly similar to the FTP test, the next of which I am dreading. Left some on the table for sure so if/when I do this again I hope to improve on fairly meager numbers
I’m due for one too, which should reveal that I need to drop my zones a tad. More than likely it’ll get put off until November, when I play less golf and ride PZ programs.
Glad I could torture all of you! So do y’all avoid all HIIT and Tabata? I find those workouts do way more for me than music themed rides. Though I think being a big guy, I can stand those short bursts more than the long endurance rides.
I love a good climb ride. I embrace being in the cradle of suck cranking resistance.
I’m a big guy (not in height, so I’m trying to change all that) – it’s more that I haven’t tried them out of fear. It’s probably a good idea to do it more. But the output wasn’t as high as some other rides I’ve done. Still trying to figure that one out…
@greebs you and I have been pretty similar for numbers. Looks like for that class I went higher resistence and slower than you. You can definitely handle those rides though
@therealmarkymark right? I’ve also been finding that warming up with 50% resistence wakes up my legs more than starting high cadence in the 30s.
Yea it is an odd ride in the sense that I feel like it is very hard, but my output isn’t even close to my PR because those valleys where the resistance goes down to 0-30. One thing that I have finally realized (especially after Discover your PZ) is that not every ride needs to be a PR. Different rides can accomplish different things, and if you build consistency into your routine you don’t have to PR every time. When I was doing 2 or 3 rides a week I felt like I needed to go all out, all the time.
Also a shout out to Wilpers 15 minute low impact rides. I like his approach to the technical side of riding and doing single leg efforts. You won’t PR, but that’s helped me with my form.
Just had the bike delivered. Gonna do this ride in about an hour. Here we go I guess.
Just so everyone is well aware, McD here is going to kill us all. He also probably already ran 5-6 miles this morning.
Love it.
This is such a great thread. You all motivate/guilt me into getting on the bike and push me into doing more once i am on it.
Climbs are by far my favorite, though, generally speaking, I hate myself so that might have something to do with it.
IMO they don’t create enough new climb content.
@greebs was right that I’d already run this morning, roughly 90 minutes, so this was my additional stimulus session allowed cuz of a 90%+ whoop recovery today. Definitely tough, and some learning on how the bike feels. Can definitely avg a higher output for 30min but the ons were hard so thats good.
Did you do the run in combat boots?
I’ve been on the Peloton game at the little work gym since about January but got our home bike delivered on Wednesday. Glad to join the Challenge.
@EZmiss @marklemcd and anyone else new here add your username to spreadsheet if you would like
Also we are doing a fun weekly challenge to help bring some variety to your rides, welcome to join if you would like
alright @milstein i have completed your challenge. As always matt seems so awkward with any music and this ride seemed to be all over the place. That being said, everytime i ride with him, it is clear he is the most knowledgeable for true cyclist. I am really looking forward to riding with him over the winter (non golf months) and developing better riding habits and gaining some serious leg strength.
Thanks for naming this ride!
