I help put together the Roost event in the Bay Area and here are hopefully two things that would encourage you and everyone else in this thread:
We don’t care at all what folks shoot - we try to make most events net to balance it out, but the priority is ALWAYS community and having fun.
We desperately want more women to play in our events!
It’s been my experience that the folks who slow us down are the (guys) who think they can reach a par-5 in two and wait to hit, then come up roughly 65 yards short and look at their club as if it’s the club’s fault.
Girllllll you get out there and shoot a million if you want. We are just glad you are jumping in and getting involved. I’ll be excited to hear what you think.
If you ever find yourself in CO, would love to play with ya.
I’m looking for some recommendations for a ladies set of clubs for my wife. Or possibly a junior set since she’s only about 5’5. She is interested in learning to play this year, but she also tends to get interested in hobbies and then give them up quickly, so I’m trying to not spend a ton.
Assuming I can’t find anything decent on eBay or Facebook marketplace, would the box sets from Dick’s be the best route to go? Is there any DTC brands people like?
Hi Conley, I’m 5’4" and play women’s clubs. Try to find Ping G LE 2 set, which lots of women play and I played until last year. I just saw a set w/bag on Facebook Marketplace for $100. You might also look at Second Swing online. (One of its stores is here in Delaware, but their online store will ship.) They may charge more because they refurbish the clubs, but that Ping set is a great starter. Good luck – I hope she loves the game!
