NLU Ladies

This is how I learned to find the correct tees. And I played the whites or two-ups on most courses until about three years ago when I started to improve.

This also eliminates adjustments ‘women and seniors’ make to handicap a set of tees, as you alluded to above.

This is why I play the back tees when they are <6500 yards. And play the white tees for courses >7200 yards.

A single digit capper I played with overseas played the whites because he couldn’t hit 5-iron longer than 150 yards. He’s the one that enlightened me as to how to pick yer proper tees… and the one that made me move back once I started to improve.

that’s gonna be in yer backyard, basically, right? comparatively i assume…

It’s in north jersey, we’re in south. Close enough lol.

Reminds me of a joke…

Ah, yer from jersey? Which exit?!

I had my first taste of private golf this past week playing Timuquana and Glen Kernan in Jacksonville. The courses were beautiful, I felt totally spoiled. It was also my first time ever playing with my Dad since I started playing in 2019. Took a week off work to fly out there and played 7 rounds in 6 days with him. My game was a little chaotic but I had some memorable shots to take home with me

Morning everyone! So I purchased a golf dress from euforeia golf for my wife and unfortunately she just didn’t like the style of it. It’s a glorious piece and I snagged it while was on sale. It really is super nice and I figured I’d throw it out to you all before I return it. $100 gets it sent your way.

Maybe this post is more appropriate for the amateur tournament thread. But, as a dad to a baby girl, I’m reading more about the women’s game in general. And I’m a total nerd when it comes to amateur golf, especially at the mid-am level. I’m intrigued by the numbers for the US Women’s Mid-Am. Today in the Northern Ohio qualifier there are only 10 players, and 3 spots are available! That kind of blew my mind. I don’t know what number I would’ve expected, but I would’ve guessed at least 20-25 players. I’ve read on this thread about the barriers for entry for women trying to take up the game, but for a woman trying to stay competitive into her late twenties and beyond, it doesn’t sound much easier. I don’t really know what point I’m trying to make, except that I feel kind of bad for women at the mid-am stage still trying to keep the competitive juices flowing. Sounds like they need more opportunities!

Side note: @ChickPhilA looks like 80 got through at Gladwynne, so I fully expect to see your name at the GAP qualifier next year!

Lol. I gotta slash my index in half (18 to 9) just to be eligible to go to a qualifier!

I started this season at 21.7. Ballooned up to 24 in June (ugh) and now at 18.5 (lowest being 18.1 last week). Getting to a 9.4 seems daunting.

However. Us senior women’s am qualifying in a few years seems maybe doable. 14.4 as high index. 6 years away lol.

If you need a caddy, I was only a 1 week rental for @LPondgolf so I’m um…available

@Sarah @ChickPhilA @madkins and other ladies. My wife is asking me about a new pair of comfy golf shoes. Recs?

I got a pair of the women’s footjoy premieres this year and I love them. Walk in them often.

I also love my tried and true Nike air max golf shoes and my jordans.

It’s been hit and miss with new balance. The fresh foams are super comfy, but the water proofing was not so great. Can only wear them in super dry conditions.

Totally second @ChickPhilA on those! I also love wearing a pair of low top Jordan’s.

Nike has always been pretty solid for me and can’t go wrong with Footjoy. Their selection was better than ever this year.

As a guy who has worn Nike golf shoes for a long time now, I’m always envious of the colorways and designs that the women get. Men need a little style, too!

I bought a pair of waterproof Skechers for walking on the muddy springtime course and they were comfortable. But I played all summer in FootJoys.

I really like New Balance since I have wide feet, and they make things in wide! The color options are not as varied as some others, but their fresh foam tech is really comfortable for me. They also run relatively inexpensive, depending on what features you want (about $90 for really good waterproof ones and $70 for breathable ones).

Nike for me. I prefer the more athletic shoe look though

My wife would definitely not recommend the Adidas codechaos shoes she bought.

I don’t know if her heals are too narrow, or if the shoes are still too stiff, but they absolutely tore up the back of her heel/achilles area and are still giving her problems even after walking a decent number of rounds in them.
