As a competitive player, I really enjoy these film rooms from competitions. @djpie I know we got some takeaways in the video, but do you think it got you interested in more competition? You ever think about entering the WI match play championship qualifier? or the State Am qualifier?
A Par 3 championship is so sick. Really wish more states took up the idea of competitive events that aren’t among the traditional ones we see all the time
Is the tee shot on 7 the worst shot in recorded NLU history? Of course there are shanks, pivotal balls that have sailed OB or into hazards, flubbed chips, etc. But a wedge, from a tee, that looked like he had an out of body experience and tried to ony hit 5 feet was one of the most jarring things I’ve ever witnessed.
Starting the video I was SO excited to see what he did there, as I took putter to a backish right hole in front of the backstop and missed a HOI by a ball width.
Flag front left? No bueno. Sorry Deej.
Also: Granted I’m a high index player but the Sandbox is no joke.
I was more interested in the putter stroke. There’s a lot going on there.

To be fair he got it close enough to putt on the next shot…
But also so relatable.
@djpie I’ve played the sandbox 3 or 4 times. I’ve done the exact same thing on 7 every time, I think I’ll go putter next time… maybe

Haha, I thought about popping in for commentary for just this one shot.
I tried to bump a 7-iron and keep it on the ground. Obviously a catastrophic failure, but still convinced that this was the play (you could see with the ensuing putt that it was).
ZERO excuse here because it was truly horrible and I was aware of this fact, but the tee boxes at the Sandbox are so unbelievably soft and well, sandy. There are so many shots that if you catch it a little fat, things just explode and the ball goes nowhere. So it feels like there’s zero margin for error on the strike (but if you hit it too far you’re dead). That happened a few different times. So then you have to start teeing up these little 50 yard shots, which is a whole other animal.
But all of that said: I would absolutely listen to the case that it’s the worst shot in recorded NLU history.
Your tee shot from Scotland(?) TS says hello (the one where you said no one needs to see it again and then you showed it 3 times!
That said, loved the video and getting a peek into the experience. Thanks for sharing it! That par 3 course looks absolutely aspirational.
I’d put it 3rd behind @tron’s double hit chip shot on Tourist Sauce? (including the helicopter club toss) and @randy’s shank session in Scotland.
To be equal opportunity, 4th is @MerchCzar putting onto and over the green at The Bridge and the two pitch shots that followed.
And rounding out the Top 5 might be a putt of @soly’s at Bandon (Old Mac, I think) that he left ridiculously short. (I hope I’m not misremembering that)
The double hit chip from tron is by far the worst because of the reaction. I don’t think he caught nearly enough hell for almost killing whoever was holding the camera
