NLU Club Championship - Sept 17th and 18th

I was not playing from 6500. I played the combo tees that were like 5650ish. I just did not have my best stuff that day. I knew I had no chance of winning it, and my goal of just trying to finish not last (and beat @KVV lol) was gone after 2 holes pretty much. Nothing to do but laugh.

I was super excited to wear provocative pants!

It looked like a beast! You did great hitting cups and getting out of those bunkers!

What guys might not realize is that even with forward tees we still might have a lot of club into those greens. Can be challenging taking on bunkers like those with hybrids, long irons, or even fairway woods!

Huge fan of a wild pant. Keep it up look forward to see what’s next.

Most forward tees are too long for the people who play them.

All great feedback. Think we need to do better clarifying that NLU is our club and this is our championship to define who is playing best this year period point blank. If we do this in the future, there is sure to be someone who you wouldn’t expect make the finals. Worth considering a second flight moving forward, but there are some production humps to clear if we did that. I think that will all be more clear tonight.

Appreciate the feedback!

It’s great content, and I hope the team does it again. In hindsight to previous comments, I think if there are other handicapped content pieces throughout the year, we can deal with one that isn’t.

I think it would have benefited from just a little pre-amble at the startā€¦ā€œThere’s been discussion out there about who’s the best player in NLU. It’s always been Soly but Ben’s the new low cap on the crew and he’s amped to take Soly’s crown. Neil’s been playing great golf so maybe he’s set to challenge the low cap boys in a gross, hitting cups, stroke play round…Casey’s out here as the high cap, more focused on challenging herself to hit cups and beat her personal best score at Erin Hillsā€ā€¦

something like that so there’s no misconception that Casey and KVV are out there getting thrown to the wolves. Through the wrong lens it could look like the high caps are out there competing with the low caps as like a joke. I know that’s not what NLU was trying to convey but could potentially be seen like that…

The dirty sensors on some of the shots were pretty distracting (not to be that guy, sorry). But even still this was tremendous content.

Love Quota. Pickup at double. Hitting cups is for suckers (or really good golfers)

It was great @sundaybag. I want the club championship to be gross. One option I did think of when I heard that only top 4 advance is for Day 2 to be bracketed 9 hole match play. Would most likely introduce some volatility and definitely ramp up the stakes of the viewing experience.

Can see the time and effort that has gone into the video is obviously substantial.

But must admit I found it a struggle to watch, and didnt seem to have the NLU magic that early strapped/tourist sauces had. Even the recent Denver video for example.

Perhaps just me, but watching higher handicaps play in a scratch competition brought little interest or enjoyment and became a slog.

Also a club championship should be match play imo. Would have been better if these rounds had set up a match play bracket and thats what we got to see over the two videos.

Will still give Part 2 a try, but doubt i will revisit Part 1 again like I do other NLU content.

I loved it because it was something different. Having the crew freed up to just play golf and allow someone else to cover the content was great (really helped having who they had in the booth).

I don’t think this type of video is really intended to be as rewatchable like TS or Strapped…

I thought it was a great example of a product the TOUR should be making weekly. Give us a final round package like this the week after an event.

Not sure we need a lot more of these from NLU, but I’ll definitely watch the finale

Edit: also did a much better job showing off the course than the TV product of the tour ever does.

I think there’s a lot of value in playing competitive gross score golf (even with low / made up stakes).

Go out there and grind. Play by the rules. At the end of the day the number next to your name is 100% real. No asterisks or explanations necessary.

You don’t have to be in competition for first place in order for the golf to be meaningful and fun. Just being part of the competition and testing yourself is fun. I say keep it the way it is, it’s great to do it every once in a while.

If anyone in here disagrees - IMO, you should try it before you make fun of it. I went and got my ass beat in a mid-am qualifier. Still had a total blast. Would do again.

Is there the possibility of a second film room version of you all or some of you watching it like you did with Spieth/JT? Would love to hear the thought process on some of these shots. Great video all around.

Caught up on day 1 now, that was epic. Great job everyone, was gripped for the full 2 hours.

High Noon Live Show at the wrap of coverage.

This as a Nest only event would be pretty sick if I’m honest.

Outside of the opening holes, KVV and I were pretty much dropped from coverage, so a majority of the 2 hours was really just the low caps.

I was happy to be included in this even knowing I had no shot of winning because I think normalizing mixed gender/mixed caps playing together is important. I also hope to inspire some people to just go play and not get bent out of shape around a score. Just have fun.
