Its an interesting place. In Dallas fashion, they seem to be focused on capitalizing on absolutely everything they can. The For Rent sign behind the 18th green is really something.
I think East is absolutely a fantastic course (same with West) and will make for a true challenge (if conditions are right) for the pros. East lacks a sense of creativity in how you play it. Its as much a “physical” test in regards to ball flights, distance etc. than anything else. Erin is not like that at all and certainly plays more fun.
The scorecard said across the trail OR construction fencing. Which I was between. That is why I asked about playing 2 balls. It wasn’t super straightforward.
I just played Fields Ranch East, and boy… kudos to the film crew and editing team, they made the course look A LOT more interesting than it really is.
Half the greens are just pushed up on top hills and you can see the surface. The other half are downhill and either running away from you or particularly narrow.
The course is soulless and bland. It’s honestly the most unremarkable course I have ever played.
There is absolutely nothing that would bring me back to play here. I live 25 minutes away, and I’d rather drive 3 hours each way and play the 8-hole preview play loop of Wild Spring Dunes (which I did yesterday) than ever play this course ever again.
It is all the worst elements of golf course design with additional penalty areas.
I played the same tees that the boys did, it was the 2/3 combo a little over 6700 yards. I’m a 1.2 and shot 81. It was so unfun, and I genuinely feel like I wasted and I mean truly wasted $500 (including the caddie fee) today.
I’ve shot 90 at Pinehurst No. 2 and had significantly more fun. I shot 87 at Atlantic Dunes on Hilton Head Island (s/o @Randy) and had WAY more fun.
In closing this course will 100% take the spot of least favorite course I played in 2026; and it won’t be particularly close.
