It would instantly become the best logo at the resort
Alright, here are some of my favorites from Bandon. I apologize for the duplicates that i posted a before. If anyone wants any of the full resolution pic shown here, I dropped them in a Google Drive. (Hopefully I didn’t screw that up…)
Somewhat disappointed I couldn’t get out with the drone, but I’ll just have to come back with a less condensed schedule.
I looked again at the flyovers of Pac, and decided I liked almost all the holes. A couple stinkers, but it’s damn good. Sneaky my favourite hole might be 8 - I just love that green site.
Awesome!
so who’s coming back anytime soon?
A few of us were sitting around the fire at Sheep Ranch after our round on the first day and went around the circle calling out our best shots of the day. Let’s hear some best shots of the trip.
I’m usually a terrible long iron player, but most of the shots that stick out to me are long irons: 6 iron into No. 3 on Pacific (promptly 3-putted for par, sick), 4 iron into No. 18 On Bandon from 240 (3-jacked for par, naturally), but I think the best shot I hit all week was the last day on Bandon, No. 12. It was into the wind, playing about 220 and just laced a 5 iron right over the bunker to about 25 feet. Left the birdie putt on the lip and tapped in for par.
Let’s hear some.
Already mentioned it but happy to relive again, 4 on Bandon I hit a good drive and left about 150 out and talking it over with @khernandez we both decided that I should try and make Mr. Kidd proud. Took out a 4 iron, bumped one down the valley and it rolled up the right side of the green, back down the backstop to 8 feet. Made the birdie putt
There are three that stand out for me. The first was the tee shot on #6 at Bandon Dunes, during the round I played on arrival day with @ajsHTX, @desperateunder105, and @redcedar14. It was playing 172 into the wind, I hit hybrid, and if it didn’t hit the stick it was really, really close. Did I 3-putt for bogey? For sure. Second was also during that first round on arrival day, the tee shot on 16. It was a 3-wood downwind, I laced it and in the air it looked so good. It came up a yard or two short and rolled back into the shit, but I was really proud of myself for not bailing out mid-swing and going right at it. I couldn’t have hit it any better. The third was the approach on number #5 on Bandon Dunes on the last day. I hit a drive through the end of the fairway on the left side, and then stuffed a 9-iron out of the junk, landing it up on that back shelf. Made my first of only two birdies of the trip on the hardest hole. Felt good.
Also hitting a tee shot on 8 at Old Max with @Tron watching that landed to about 10 feet, turning around and telling him, “that’s how we hit in in St. Louis” was pretty damn fun. The birdie putt and hat tip back to the tee was a massive moment for @ConfluenceGC
Love this story! It’ll never get old.
Mine:
Drive on OM 3 was a perfect draw around the tree. Might have been on the green if it was drier. Followed it up with a sand wedge to a foot for a birdie.
7 iron into the road hole on OM to 10 feet. Hit the green and stuck. Missed the birdie putt to lose the hole to @randy.
5 iron into Pac Dunes 3 for a 2 putt birdie. One of two non doubles I made on the front that day…
2 3 hybrids on Trails. One up the really long and uphill hole to about 20 feet. One on the long par 3 to about 20 feet. Missed both birdies but made par.
- @MattyB cross-country putt on 4 at Trails that lipped out for birdie (and every other of the 68 shots he hit that day)
- @sundaybag tee shot on 17 at Pac that SHOULD have been a tap in at worst if the bounces were bouncing
- @Soly tee shot on 11 at Sheep. NUKED it up the right side, was so pure
- @BunkiePerkins shot out of the bunker on 6 at OM. He didn’t see where it landed, but it was a really damn good shot from that massive bunker
- @catshannon drive on 14 at Bandon. Could not have placed it better where it landed. He didn’t have much of an approach shot left after smoking that drive
- @fishtopher18 hitting ‘chippy cut 6 irons’ into the green at 9 on Shorty’s
Honestly there are many others, but I don’t want this post to run a mile long.
For me, on Preserve 11 hitting it to a foot
Love this!
Whiffs of the vibe circle photograph from NIT 1.0 in this. Love it!
Big thanks to everyone I was lucky to play a round or two with! Too many folks to tag in the post, but you know who you are and that we had a great time even if the play was mediocre at times, ha.
My two favorite courses were Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes. Pac Dunes is where I blacked out and shot the 78. Watching Nick and LJ crush it from the black tees was a big inspiration for going all time low. I really enjoyed Old Mac, it’s probably my #3 (plus I got to play with @ChickPhilA). I’d love another shot at Trails and Sheep Ranch early in the morning vs. “the back 18” after scarfing down food and “running” (more like briskly walking) to the tee.
Props to @Tron for all of the organization and once again @ArnieDrillingKools for the media guide. Such a fantastic way to “pre-bond” with so many folks.
Big thanks to @MileHighHoosier for letting me test out the new Precision Pro 10, I think everyone is going to love the new range finder (I know I can’t wait to get one).
I don’t have a favorite hole, my memory is bad (and/or I’m old). I did take so many damn pics b/c almost every hole had a “wow, that could be a great photo” moment.
Big thanks to @astrodupes for the transport to and from Portland, such a great time talking about the subtle differences between Thrash, Hardcore and Death Metal and awful 90’s pop-music.
Can’t wait to watch Tourist Sauce Oregon for the 4th time, now for the post-trip comparison.
I got 45 minutes away from Eugene Airport on Wednesday when I got an alert my flight was delayed. This would have caused me to miss my connection in Dallas, so it was a mad scramble to get new flights, lodging for the night, rental car extension, etc. I finally walked in my door in DC at around 4:30pm yesterday.
I’ll need these to power through the work day. Didn’t realize I saved some!
Uh … details please.
That brown crow looks like its squaring up to take them from you.
Did not forget this happened, but may or may not have been in a state that I had forgotten a photo was taken…
Thanks to you and @ArnieDrillingKools for sharing these! What a blast. One hell of a way to end your birthday!
Also, thanks for putting up with me on Bandon @sundaybag!
