Neil and Cody In “The Booth” - sitting on the same side

This is pretty awesome if you have never seen it; perhaps @MerchCzar can have the new nickname of Dual Bag. Take notes…I believe he may have hit 2 of their recommended gifts to avoid.

The birthday gift topic is an interesting one that I am glad I don’t need to worry about. My wife and I have been together for 15 years (12 years married in September) and we stopped buying each other birthday, anniversary, Christmas and Valentines gifts about 2-3 years in.

Now, most of it was personal preference—she hates trying to think of gifts unless it’s our daughter and typically I am not the best at planning to give a gift.

Anway, we basically decided to stop doing specific dates. We get what we want or go someplace whenever we can. Saves a lot of stress and anxiety.

Same, except for anniversary we do one medium sized home improvement purchase. 3 years ago I came home with a new toilet and she was ecstatic.

The ability to get away with home appliances for birthdays and events just goes up with age. My parents are in their 60s and my dad bought my mom a lawnmower for mothers day. Boggled my mind, and he saw nothing wrong with it.

thats the good stuff

this relationship stuff isn’t only found on podcasts LOL

for relationship basics, read or listen to this classic book, Prego!

Listening to Neil discuss his wife’s excitement at getting a vacuum she did not want for her birthday was very similar to something we had happen in the Hacker household this month. Mrs Hacker has been expanding her garden the last couple of years and wanted to get a compost bin to start making her own compost for the garden. While I did not get it for her at Christmas, I did float the idea a couple months ago with Mother’s Day/her birthday coming up the same week and my idea file on my phone looking a little light. I was told in no uncertain terms to NOT get her a compost bin for her birthday. Well, our town has an Earth Day celebration, my wife went up and, wouldn’t you know it, won a compost bin. She has never been more excited than the day it arrived.

@Cody talks about being a key witness in a rogue agent torturing Kurds and here we are discussing what to get our wives. THIS is why I love the refuge

This should get turned into a book and get handed down from every father to son on his wedding day.

@Cody lawyer here and I was chomping at the bit to hear how they talked about your current employment during cross. Laughed my ass off when they called you a blogger. What a world where employment at NLU was used to try and discredit a witness in a federal torture trial, can’t imagine anyone had that on their bingo card.

@MerchCzar Best gift I ever bought my wife… Dyson hair dryer. Pricey, yes. But you can’t imagine how happy your wife will be when her hair drying routine gets cut down by 15-20 minutes.

“Thanks for the memories”.

@MerchCzar hearing that with his fancy written notes…

@Tron @MerchCzar @Cody to answer your tire question for the electric vehicles-yes you can get winter tires for an electric vehicle. We just bought a VW id4 that is all wheel drive and got winter tires with it. I live on Vancouver Island and we don’t get a ton of snow but good to have when it does. It is my understanding that tires for electric vehicles are more expensive as they have different construction because of the weight of the vehicle.
I usually only get all weather tires and have them for my CX 9 and they suit me just fine in our environment.
And I will not give a mea culpa for the wild fires in Canada…in 2020 we here in SW British Columbia were blanketed by thick smoke from wild fires in Oregon…it was awesome-COVID regulations telling us to be outside, and air advisories telling us to stay inside. As a high school VP trying to get the school back and running under COVID regulations, it was brutal…so if any mea culpas are needed, I think you should be giving us one.
And July 1-Happy Canada Day.

Talking about bringing a single club on a flight reminded me of when the TSA loosened restrictions a few years to allow people to bring lacrosse sticks as carry-ons. Everyone was confused as to why they would allowed and then it came out some other executive’s kid played high-level travel lacrosse. Guess if he has been a golfer you could get away with it.

I am a creative director in a full service marketing agency in Atlanta. We just had a lunch and learn from a targeted marketing agency (MNI) last week… I just posted this timestamped link > to our company-wide Slack channel of @MerchCzar breaking down the Google/YouTube Scandal … Amazing breakdown of the situation and how Google interacts with advertisers. Super insightful information here. Thanks, Neil!
