Iām sure this will be of some interest and generate some conversationā¦
whispers I hate Dave Matthews Band
Their first album somehow made it into the music playlist of whatever service the bar I worked at used (think pre-SiriusXM for businesses). So every damn day Iād be there, prepping for the evening rushā¦
Over and over and overā¦The Ants! Oh my god THE ANTS!!!
Killed any chance I ever had with them on the very first album. Can never look at them or Long Island Ice Teas the same.
The night before our Spanish final in college someone had the brilliant idea that we should sneak into the bar on Long Island Ice Tea special night. Somehow we all made it to the final the next morning, but as for our performance on itā¦
On LI nights weād go through so much that we started prepping it in multiple 5 gallon buckets during the day and store them in the beer keg area. The cheapest gin/vodka/rum we had. I donāt even think it was good enough to be well liquor.
Itās amazing what college kids will drink if itās cheap enough. Thank God my standards have improved.
The funny thing is, that wasnāt even a college bar! It was an Applebees!! The college kids couldnāt have handled the desperation.
Oh man! My roommate worked at Applebeeās during college. I loved it when he brought back some late night appetizers for all of us that had been drinking our lives away.
Just found this guy. Holy Shitā¦
(Influenced by The Outsiders)
That was my reaction.
And wife and I bought tickets for this last night. Iām so freaking pumped. Donāt care about either headliner but tons of great artists and Iām dying for live music.
I just realized Eminemās character in 8 Mile might be a John Updike reference
Embrace those headliners ā they all make some great music (though I wonāt speak on DMB, because thatās just asking for controversy). Also not sure how you can be a fan of Zach Bryan without at least respecting Jason Isbell! Shoutout to Ep. 44 of the āRadio Ga Gaā podcast.

Oh, Iām in love Isbell and Leon Bridges is a must see. I meant headliners specifically talking about MMJ (just not familiar with them, might have to download an album) and DMB. Wife used to be a big Dave fan, sheās seen him somewhere around 10 times but heās just not my cup of tea and she said it would be a lot more fun if she went with her group of friends.
Donāt worry, weāre absolutely planning to see Jason Isbell and Leon Bridges.
Enjoy! Canāt wait to get back to live music.

This brings to mind the stories of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. People would praise Fred Astaireās dancing, but then they would be reminded that Ginger had to do the same dancing, but backwards and in heels.
Thatās Prince. Except he also did it blindfolded and with a guitar.
MMJ put on a great show. You wonāt regret stickng around to see them.
