That’s one hell of a tribute.

Glen Hansard is so good.

Another beautiful tribute by Nick Cave

Bad Astronaut. A very little-known band with some very big talent (some of which has sadly left this world). I got into them at the recommendation of a friend ca. 2005 and have loved them ever since. Pretty easily digestible but endlessly interesting, and only 3 records (plus 1 split EP) to work through. I recommend everyone start with their final record, “Twelve Small Steps, One Giant Disappointment”. From the band’s Spotify bio:

"Work on the band’s third album occurred off and on over the next several years, but when [drummer Derrick] Plourde sadly took his own life in March 2005, a devastated [Joey] Cape (whose grief first turned into the Lagwagon album ‘Resolve’) considered scrapping the whole thing, not wanting to go on without him. However, Cape ultimately felt he needed to finish what he and his friend had started, deciding the resulting record would also be the last for Bad Astronaut. Finishing tracks for which Plourde had already laid down drums, Cape further called upon close friend and drummer Jonathan Gorman to help him flesh out the remaining songs. The completed Twelve Small Steps, One Giant Disappointment – titled ironically enough by Plourde and Cape before what would be one of their last recording sessions together – appeared in November 2006 on Fat Wreck."

I make up for a larger % of the 1.2k views on this video than I would like to admit.

Their two best songs, back to back, played live in someone’s bedroom. Amazing sound, impeccable vibes.

This song has been stuck in my head for 2 going on 3 days.

I came across Backtrack while listening to a TUI Playlist.

One more for those that like hardcore

Happy local band reunion season everyone!

I’ve been very into Tyler Childers for a while but lately I’ve been listening to him a lot. I feel like Follow you to virgie might be his best work. There’s just so much raw emotion in this song. It reminds me of my wife’s grandma who was a large influence in our lives and makes me miss her a lot. Anyways just listen and enjoy.

I could have gone the rest of my life without knowing this song existed but Amazon music decided I needed to hear it and if I had to hear it, so do the rest of you.

White House Road and Universal Sound are my favorites I think.

Follow you to Virgie is really good though

How did I miss this album?

It’s like melodic pop punk. It’s surprisingly good because ‘melodic pop punk’ sounds very off-putting to me heh
