Music Suggestions 2 - driving fast in my car

I’ve probably shared this before.

I know I posted another one of this band’s songs recently as I was feeling nostalgic about my study abroad days.

This song was released right around when we left/got home and it always made me think of the friends I made while I was there.

After listening to more recently. It makes me think of “the friends I’ve made along the way” here in the refuge.

Acoustic and album version shared. I am partial to the acoustic myself

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Fleetwood Mac is of course a popular band but they IMO the most underrated popular band. I remember a tweet about how every dude has adopted Grateful Dead as their and women should adopt Fleetwood Mac in the same vein.

Lightning strikes maybe once, maybe twice

Two things. Saw LS Dunes on Saturday at the First Unitarian Church in Philly. Mash up Thursday, MCR, Coheed, and Circa Survive together and you get LS Dunes (sonically and literally - that’s who makes up the band :joy:). Was v fun show in the sweaty church basement and felt like early 00s emo/screamo time.

Also I’m a sucker for these things that mine your Spotify but 100% would attend if this was real. I like how they grouped the days.

We’re having a random one over my way. Kanye doesn’t look so cool in the light of day!

For anyone looking for some interesting radio to listen to over the next who knows how many days, our local NPR music station WXPN (home of World Cafe) started their annual big “a to z”/“countdown” stunt thing today.

This year is the 90s A to Z (by song title), and, my god, it is lovely. Bjork, Ben Folds Five, Rufus Wainwright, Daft Punk, Maxwell, Aaliyah, Dar Williams, all in the last 40 minutes alone.

I listen via my Sonos on TuneIn, but you can also listen on their website.

It’s dusty in here, dammit

Talked with some friends about this song last night. Hadn’t listened to it in awhile.

This is so up my alley and I don’t know how I missed it all year

Probably more appropriate here rather than the reading thread. I finished the Pearl Jam book by Steven Hyden last night. Quick read and didn’t tell me much I didn’t know but much better than the other PJ books. Written by a fan for the fans though not a total slurp fest. A lot on 2000 which is my favorite era of the band.

This album is one of my fav live recordings ever. I know these songs got played ad naseum back in the 1990’s, early 2000’s but I never got tired of them. I love the goo goo dolls. The lyrics and melody’s of these songs are just so good.

“Two Days in February” is my favorite track from that performance. The whole thing is solid, but that live version is fantastic. Especially with it being such a basic tune.

Cause everything’s wrong
Well it’s all right…

Damn right!

I saw the Goo Goo Dolls at a larger scale local summer festival. Just buy a pass and see whoever among 2 stages. So glad we picked GGD. It was an unbelievably fun show. Still think about.

Just watched the “Country Music” episode of Explained on Netflix (S1E2) and found it incredibly interesting. Wish it was 2 hours longer honestly. A very quick and high-level explanation of the history of American music that I think any music lover should watch

I will have to check that out. I thought the PBS Special about the history of Country Music was pretty great. Pretty long, but I was hooked and I am by no means a huge country fan.

I should clarify - I am not a fan of country in the least. Except maybe what I’m told is called Red Dirt - Isbell, Childers, etc. The episode is about country because it’s one of the oldest genres in American music but they talk about everything and how the various genres are intertwined.
