Good evening Refugees!
@QueenCityHive is pleased to announce we’re running back one of our favorite events for a 4th time - Mimosa Madness at Mimosa Hills Golf Club in Morganton, NC. This event will be open to ALL members of the Refuge, as the winner will be awarded a spot in the NIT!
For those who don’t know, Mimosa Hills is a 1929 Donald Ross course located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains - about 80 miles west of Charlotte and 60 miles east of Asheville. A number of QCHers have joined the club over the past 5 years and it’s become a very treasured place within our golf community, we invite you all to come out and experience it!
Right now we have 40 spots available - 10 tee times beginning at 12:50pm - if there’s enough interest we may be able to secure additional times from the club, but for now that’s what we’re working with. Bonus golf may be in play after the competition round is completed as it has been in the past given the sun won’t set until 8pm.
More info to come as we work with the course to finalize costs - but the cost will include Saturday golf/range access, boxed lunch (sandwich, chips, NA bev, maybe even a cookie), coolers of cold domestic beer, gratuity for the staff, tee gifts, and charitable contribution.
Speaking of charity, I’m sure you’re all aware that Western NC is still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, to aid in the recovery efforts all of the QCH charitable money raised this season is being directed towards WNC and Helene relief efforts.
Aside from the contribution that’ll be included in the cost of the event, we’d like to raise additional funds through a raffle this year. If you have anything you’re willing to donate to be raffled off please let us know, I’ll create a tab in the Google doc where you can add items - tickets, collection, and raffle date to come.
Signup sheet below (eventually will get this transferred into Unknown Golf):
In the meantime, take a look at the promo video @PowerFadez created for the event last year with some awesome archival footage from Mimosa in the 1940’s - we look forward to seeing y’all this spring!
