Holy shit. I was away from the Refuge for two days and this place exploded. I’m seriously so stoked to finally meet some local golf freaks. I’ve been down in the area for about 5 years now and all my golf buddies are back home 1.5 hours north. My hype level is off the charts.
At some point I feel like we should show some love to the other Detroit Park Muni Rogue Park and Chandler Park.
to see the refuge take over chandler park would certainly be a sight. would be down.
Lincoln Hills and Springdale in Birmingham could be a fun option. Both nine holers, could possibly play 18 at one in the am, 18 at the other in the pm.
Additional options:
Sylvan Glen
Sanctuary Lake
Pine Trace
The Links at Crystal Lake (RIP Pontiac Municipal)
Fieldstone Golf Club
Glen Oaks Golf Course is not far away, they have real good spring rates too. I drive by it on my way home from work and could stop by and walk a quick 9 for $11 or $12 on Fridays. Evergreen Hills is right nearby in downtown Southfield, it’s only a 9 hole muni run by parks and rec, but I’m always blown away at how nice it looks and it’s a fun course. Glenhurst is another public course in Redford, but I’ve never played it.
Lakes of Taylor is low key sick and right by the airport.
Ohhhh hell yeah. This is the course I play most when back home.
I highly recommend Farmington Hills Golf Club, max $35 fee, right down the highway from Rackham. Couple of bigger guns are Pine Trace and Shepherd’s Hollow. Further away but exceptional courses, and are a few more $.
Are there any good par 3/executive courses/pitch ‘n’ putts nearby? Always love a good par 3 round and it seems like a great way to increase the odds of a group hole in one.
Fox Hills in Plymouth has a real good par 3, but that’s ~30ish miles away unfortunately.
Except bring more socks than you’d expect.
huntmore in brighton is one of my favorite places to play, a little bit of a hike but a good middle ground between those staying in Ann Arbor and Royal oak. very laid back atmosphere, but probably the purest public greens in the area.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I’m pretty sure I read somewhere Rackham is a dry course
this is true, I assumed since we’re renting the course for the whole day we got some sort of loophole like byob or something.
This is true. However, if everyone follows the TC Way and doesn’t ask like a scumbag then there are ways around this (i.e. be discreet).
I have booked a humble home for @Even_Parker, @Over_Parker and myself. Amazed at how 3 homes I was looking at were booked by the time I got home last night.
At any rate, we are staying at: 419 Marlin Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48067 in a proud, working class neighborhood.
I am going to send flowers to this address which can promptly be put on Laz’s grave following the duel.
I am half expecting you to drop out of the Duel.
Who will serve as first alternate?
