Can’t say no to the hitters on this list. Let’s fucking rock it.
getting close to d-day before I name and shame those of you who need to lock in. The #1 thing for me is confirmation on attendance so we have the right number of rooms and tee times - i’m not getting stuck with the bag because someone has to late pull out. If you have specific deets and want to work with me on the side, shoot a DM and let’s chat
Had to take my name off the list. Bummed I can’t commit cause it sounds like an awesome event!
Bummer to hear that man. I might have to create a sub-waitlist for people who can’t commit today but do still want to come, with a later allowable date. I just need to balance respecting the course’s need for commitment vs. everyone’s scheduling and planning timeframes
This is where I currently fall. Trying to figure it out, but I’m hoping to get to a single Refuge (actual) event next year and I’m targeting this, Max, or the Extinction.
Just need to go over budget and timing with my wife to make sure we’re on the same page before committing to things.
I’m interested. I’m already making my 2025 plans right now, which is the earliest I’ve done so. But many things are still in flux and I wouldn’t be able to give firm commitment by the end of this month. Maybe by December or January I’ll have a better idea if I could attend. And I’d be willing to give a higher deposit if/when I commit as penance for being later to the party.
Put your name down in an open spot! Im going to add a spot for people who need to hold out to commit to give me a later date. They’d be superceeded if someone signs up who can commit sooner, but I’d rather keep the option for those of you than cancel spots earlier than absolutely necessary
I’m probably gonna move to that list for now as well. Bit out but not in.
I’d like to throw my name on the list if possible. Gotta see how some billing went on a retainer.
Quick golf course recommendations. Gonna make a sicko trip coming from the south. Starting at bloomington, in for pfau course. Go to notre dame course. Play pilgrims run after notre dame. How good is the mines or other courses in the grand rapids area? Is it worth it to drop one of the university courses?
Yeah I’d be happy to go on the sub-waitlist. There’s potential I could go, just not sure.
Mines is definitely worth.
On the way up (or back down), very much worth hitting up Stoatin Brae or the Medalist in Battle Creek area. Haven’t played Bedford Valley but hear it’s gorgeous.
Stoatin brae is a good one, as teeps noted. Mines is very provocative and generates strong feelings, diamond springs single cut and movement is cool, pilgrims run is prolly the nicest conditions version of a devries. All 4 worth seeing eventually.
I havent seen the uni courses so i cant say if I’d play them ahead of the devries or staotin
Depends on what you’re after. The Mines is the course I most want another shot at. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster. Diamond Springs I could probably play every day. PR was a beautiful space to be in, but runs together in my memory. We also played in afternoon / twilight and it was just a great place to end the day.
Pretty much agree with these sentiments. I like Diamond Springs more.
@Manhattan how have the conditions been at Stoatin Brae the last couple years? They were keeping it pretty soft which is not at all how it’s supposed to play.
I loved the routing, and the visuals of the course. But my take is it played way to soft for what the course design is made for.
Also, Deposit sent.
Havent been in awhile, but high on my list to get to. Ill report out here or on the slack once i do
I would definitely play Notre Dame over The Mines and Diamond
Alright ya’ll, I’ve made a few updates.
Those of you who are paid and committed - appreciate you. Ballers (and planners), the lot of ya.
We’ve got 14 spots open
Those of you who haven’t paid yet have been moved down to the waitlist.
If you haven’t paid, or if you need more time to figure it out I’ve added a spot where you can give me a rough date you’ll know by. Fill that out! The remaining open spots will be first come first serve to people who can lock in → but I don’t want to exclude anyone just because they need a few more weeks to get their plans settled. I know @bert @meathaus @dgolfman62281 @golf4miami and probably others fall into this category. Go ahead an get your name in there if it’s not already, it’ll give me a list of guys to follow up with as we get closer to a course imposed hard deadline, as opposed to the softer one I’ve implemented now.
I’ll be in touch with the course on the side and hold out as long as I can on keeping the spots available, but at some point (probably in the Spring) I’ll need to cancel open spots on the reservation so the course can have them back. Depending on where we are for roster, that’ll require some reshuffling of housing as well.
If you made any new friends at recent golf events (Cough @MattyB @kirkeide1 @duncmitchell @3PuttKing @ForWhomThePuttRolls cough) and want to make sure they’re going to be cool and come join us, hit them up too!
God, I’d love to make this work but I will be in Europe to start September - without golf clubs, unfortunately. Have a small squad going for a 40th birthday for a rip around a bunch of places.
But the rest of y’all should go! I think there’s a couple Duckers on the list already, maybe?
