Hi all, we just published my third piece, “How I Found Scottie Scheffler”, earlier today and thought it’d be fun for me to introduce myself and talk ball (writing, golf, whatever). Excited to hear what you all think and get to know the Refugees. Cheers!
I actually just finished reading it and my first thought was “ @KVV is on shrooms again”. Then I realized it wasn’t him who wrote it once we got to the golf part.
Really interesting read and a lot to take in. Well written @connor !
Here is a link to the piece. Really proud of Connor for the work he put into this one. The reward is there if you give it the patience it warrants.
Great piece. Was not sure where it was going but you landed the plane.
In 9th century Bangladesh, according to legend, the venerable Mahasiddha Virupa left Nalanda,
I must say, I did not know what to expect after this opening.
Great piece!
Really enjoyed it!
Good work Connor! Looking forward to reading more in the future.
One of my favorite golf pieces I’ve ever read. Looking forward to more and good luck on the pro journey. Hope you find some repeatable magic out there b
Appreciate it, all. Means a lot for you all to sit down and read 3k words.
Looking ahead, anything you all want to see? I’m looking ahead to Q School in a little less than a month, think it’d be interesting to do some sort of Q School journal. Otherwise, curious if you all like the really longform stuff or something lighter, or if there’s anything on your mind you’d like to see covered. A couple things in the works… want to give you all the inside scoop on starting a pro career from scratch. Appreciate the audience!
How about something like a caddie journal/week in the life? I’m always curious about the work they do behind the scenes to have their player ready to go.
Longform
I’ll definitely keep this in mind…I actually don’t have a caddie right now, and I’m expecting I’ll carry my own bag at the Q School pre-qual. (Always been pretty picky about who’s on my bag — I make mostly good decisions on my own, but I’m really sensitive to other people’s headspace, and I’d rather just carry my own bag if I don’t have a known unambiguous mental positive around.)
I’m planning out some sort of “what a day/week/month of trying to get better really looks like”, hopefully a course scouting/planning/strategy session could scratch this itch. Could do something on mental prep too, though this is obviously a lot less of a controlled environment.
In any event, anything anyone’s dying to see, please let me know. Will try to keep stuff coming.
