10 lbs down, new putter in hand!
Your league partner likes that.
Hoping we can get out there tomorrow, hopes are not high
Late April report because I tried on some old golf pants this morning before a golf trip.
Down 33 pounds since February 1st. I was limited to 2 pairs of golf pants this fall/winter but I’ve got at least 6 to choose from now that I’m down a size. Turns out not putting junk in your body might be a good thing. Breaking news I know and I’m trying to get in touch with the medical societies to let them know.
Major shoutout to this thread and the support behind it.
After getting up to 275 in late February, I knew I had to make a change. Quick backstory, in 2016, I lost 70 pounds on Weight Watchers, went from 305 to 235. Had knee surgery in 2018 and I jumped back into the 250s, then after that, slowly gained over the past few years getting to 275.
It’s all diet because I work out 5-6 days a week.
Re-joined Weight Watchers at the end of March and today I stepped on the scale for my weekly weigh-in and I’m back down into the 250s (259) for the first time in 2.5 years. Felt so good!
I also signed up for my first-ever half marathon and joined the “Slow AF Runners Club” mostly because I hate running, have bad ankles and a bum knee. Hoping to finish the Detroit Free Press Marathon in about three hours with a combo of jog a half mile and walk a half mile. My jog is slow but I’m an insanely fast walker, so hoping that will help me keep pace. (Side note: If anyone wants to do a half marathon, the Detroit one is cool. It’s an international half marathon. You run across the Ambassador Bridge into Canada and then run back under the tunnel into the U.S.)
Keep up the good work, guys!
We have eerily similar stories, 325 down to 230 on weight watchers, back up to 270 after my wedding. Back down to 260 now and still struggling to make progress a bit. But getting there!
Nice work! I did the Detroit half a couple years ago and might get guilted into it again this year.
Word of advice, make sure you don’t have anything that can cover your number when you go to Canada. My jacket covered part of my number and I was physically grabbed by our border patrol
Semi same boat here. Lost close to 55 lbs for wedding in 2021, now gained it all plus about 10 lbs more. Trying to turn it around now, golf season helps as I walk most rounds but need to holding myself accountable a little more.
Oh man! That’s good to know. Was it the US or Canada border patrol? US makes sense, they’re the worst. I run into problems every time I come back from the tunnel.
I heard the tunnel is terrible, and thankfully someone suggested bringing my emergency inhaler because of the warmth to cold transition coming out of the tunnel.
Yeah the tunnel is a very strange experience, but it wasn’t as claustrophobic as I expected. Definitely a lot warmer than the rest of the course when I did it.
This was the US Border patrol on my way up the bridge into Canada. Speaking of the bridge, the climb to get onto the bridge seemed to take forever to me. Lots of people stopped to take pictures on the bridge, and it is super pretty up there.
Have fun! Its a great race that I am like 75% sure I’ll get talked into participating in haha
Owe everyone an update, we did not get the train started on time but we are officially on it as of three weeks ago. Weighed in after a vacation at 380, down to 367 as of this morning.
Progress is progress, and we will keep on keeping on.
Sending encouragement. I’m also back on the fitness (and Refuge) grind. Luckily not significant weight gain over the last year, just a long stall where I wasn’t all that focused on golf or nutrition.
One foot in front of the other. Nice work!
Bought the better app for 5 months after seeing an ad on instagram. It’s daily 20-30 minute workouts that range from chair yoga to hiit workouts. Currently two weeks in and I’m very happy so far. Down 2.5lbs so far and it provides me with some guidance on working out and a sense of accountability that I needed. I know this isn’t for everyone but thought I would bring it up.
Take care gentleman!
Funny enough, that’s the one I bought!
Hit 285 recently, which was a lifetime high. Basically, gained 25 pounds in sympathy weight during my wife’s pregnancy, and just haven’t taken the initiative to start working out and sleep deprivation has caused a continued bad diet and laziness.
Don’t remember where I saw it now (probably one of those Twitter fitness threads), but saw a 10K kettlebell swing rep challenge. Basically, the idea is you do 20 total workouts, 500 reps/day, 4 or 5 days a week. I’ve modified the set breakdown to 15-35x10 and I just do as much weight as I feel like I can reasonably handle.
The goal is just to finish. It easy to setup, easy to track for me, and I can just zone out and listen to podcasts to get it done. After 2 workouts, I’m feeling much better than I thought I would.
Hopefully this is the challenge that kickstarts me to consistently working out and eating better. I’ve started tracking food in My Fitness Pal, too. Goal is to finish the challenge by my first Father’s Day and see what my progress is from there. Hoping to be down 50 by year’s end, but trying to not get ahead of myself.
I lost 100 pounds a few years back and gained 30 pounds of it back throughout my wife’s pregnancy and the first few months after birth. Lost 15 of it but understand the sympathy weight. It happens and part of life and important part is you’ve recognized it.
Hello fellow units, and former units. We are down to 360 as of today, slow and steady wins the race. Happy with the progress as the past couple weeks I have not been as tuned into “dieting”. About 60 days out from where I’ll be playing the Dual at the Loop for the 3rd year. This year will be the year I’m not a body bag at the end of it!
I’m both excited and a little sad. Today I took my first dose of a semaglutide compound (active ingredient of ozempic/wegovy).
Feels like I’m both cheating and maybe also evening the playing field a bit. Like I’m giving up on myself but also investing in my health. I don’t know. But it’s definitely feeling some mixed emotions.
Anyone else have any experience with this stuff?
I kinda want to get on that train…
