I want to like this, but I’m not sure I support the complimenting of another man’s wife :rofl:

@GooseTrego way to kick cancer’s ass! I’m beyond happy for you, man.

@GooseTrego HELL YEAH!!!

Friends and Family,

It’s been a few months since I’ve updated everyone. As most know, our scans from September showed no evidence of new disease. This is great news, confirming nothing has spread from the liver and confirming the likelihood of its origin in the colon is completely clear.

The area of concern is still on the liver. The spot they have been monitoring continues to slowly shrink from what they can tell. Its right at the scar from where they removed 40% of my liver back in 2021. The difficulty lies in the location. Because there is so much scar tissue, its hard to discern if the spot is shrinking on its own.

The chemo I received through my HAI pump is 400% more concentrated than normal systemic chemo through a port or your vein.

I have another set of scans on Dec. 7 next month. That date may change due to the availability of my oncologist, but it’s coming soon. The goal is to identify what direction the spot is headed. No growth or shrinking is absolutely what we want. We also continue to hope that there is continued no evidence of disease.

It’s only a matter of time, but that spot will mostly like need to be re-sected. A surgery that will require opening up again from sternum to just below my bellybutton. It’s the only way they can remove everything and confirm for sure that nothing has spread. It’s daunting knowing that it’s going to happen, so I’ve been trying to get as strong as I can. Thankfully I’ll have another 8-10 months of an excuse for all the slices on the course. I haven’t been able to get shallow since 2007.

Physically we feel like we’re almost 100% from last November’s surgery. Trying to be as active and mindful about what’s going into my body.

Mentally, its a battle. I’ve been meeting with a therapist to help break down everything. It’s been a huge help. I haven’t mastered anything, but I can now identify when I’m in a spin of anxiety or depression.

All I can say is this. Sometimes you get dealt a shitty hand, but you have to keep playing the game. So often I feel like I have no control over anything, but I can always control my attitude. Every time.

This community has been a huge “refuge” for me. I mean it. Those that reach out and encourage make the daily battles so much easier to fight. I’d be honored to tee it up and break bread with every one of you. Thanks for being in my corner.

Love you all,

  • Goose
