Golf and Photography

iPhone can shoot RAW and has manual controls with a $5 app. Anyone have an iPhone 11 Pro yet? I’m curious how the HDR and DR is.

You are right, the ProCam app is pretty decent, but I’ve generally found it difficult to really push any post processing with an iPhone raw file

Is the x100f too big?

Great size just no zoom. Having said that should really put it in the bag next time I’m out, suspect 35mm is too wide and restrictive

On a cropped sensor it should be ok.

it’s 23mm though

I have a 22mm pancake that lives on my M50, going to get a cheapo 35mm for when it’s in my golf bag soon

Oh, hadn’t realised that.

also I won’t be giving away details yet so it’s kind of pointless posting this but I just bought plane tickets to get a long term golf related photo book project started and I’m extremely excited :call_me_hand:t3:

The Canon G1x Mark iii looks like a great option other than the price. Big sensor, small compact body and a great viewfinder. Will see if there are any Black Friday sales on this one

See, in my eyes I think that’s still in the medium size range…if it were me I’d rather spend less money on a Sony a6000 range camera to have the option for interchangeable lenses rather than a fixed lens point and shoot in the same exact size.
But I’m also not super familiar with the G1X so it may be better.

Can’t argue at all with that, they are very similar in size.

Too many choices :rage:

I’ve been debating on pulling the trigger on a a6000 for a while now. The size and the interchangeable lenses is the main draw for me at the moment

I had one, and it’s a great versatile all around camera. I just found that it was a little too big to conveniently lug around the golf course when I wanted to snap a quick high quality picture, as it didn’t fit in my golf bag depending on the lens I had on it.

That’s good to know, thanks! I know I want something smaller than a DSLR but more flexible than a point and shoot. Gonna keep searching around then

Fujifilm x-t30 might fit the bill. Combine it with a 50mm F2 (76mm when allowing for crop factor) and you will have a pretty compact set up.

this. more power than the Sony and the Canon, same price as the GX1, and in a generally more compact setup. If I was looking for a good “do it all mirrorless” to take on family vacations/golf trips/events/etc., that would probably be the one.

gone down the rabbit hole on this a bit and almost concluded that all the whilst all the mirrorless interchangeable cameras are awesome, they are all too big for the golf bag, especially playing a Sunday bag with less stuff.

Canon g5x mark ii is now the main contender! Great zoom range, very small and decent sensor size. Bring on black Friday

Meanwhile, we’re here drooling over the 1Dxii sales that are right around the corner :smirk:

My a6400 with the kit pancake lens is plenty small for my golf bag, even a Sunday bag

I found the fuji to be much heavier. But the fuji is an awesome camera. I want one one day
