@jhkaplan, Have you heard any rumors of an updated DJI Spark? I was looking that them today and I really like the price point, but it looks like they were really reduced in price in the DJI store and are now out of stock. I couldn’t find any articles about it and I wasn’t sure if they were updating it, phasing it out, or just out of stock.
I’ve heard about a DJI Mavic Mini, which people think might replace the Spark, but nothing of a new Spark.
Related: I have my Spark that I’m gonna sell soon if you’re interested. It’s a really great intro drone
Honestly I think any DJI drone is great for a beginner. Their software is so good. I know all the super drone nerds pic them apart, but they really are great for anyone who can competently play a video game newer than super Mario bros 2
Yeah…hit me up when you are ready to sell. I’m still researching and comparing while trying to justify it.
DO IT, you won’t be sorry
Pay up, xt-20 takes better stills, especially in low light
Don’t sleep on the FujiFilm x-t3
It’s not a dedicated video camera like say, the Blackmagic PCC, but it’s still an extremely good one. If you haven’t done so already, you may want to look at investing in a gimbal, an external monitor (like an Atomos Ninja V) and a good mic.
Have a gimble and mic. Thought about the external
Monitor, but figured we gotta figure out how all this stuff first before we go any deeper.
No…That’s not how we do things around here. We dive in and send it!
Just kidding. Would love to see a picture of your setup. What do you plan to do with it? Any projects planned?
Here it is mounted on the DJI Ronin Gimble.
Project wise, have a big one coming in two weeks. Y’all will se when we start rolling that out. Will be our first attempt at long form stuff.
Other then that, we have an event coming up in a few weeks we will make content for.
Outside of those big ones, we invested in really solid equipment to hopefully bring more opportunities to the table. If we can become adequate at recording and producing golf and golf lifestyle stuff, a lot of opportunities pop up. Would love to focus on short courses, unconventional/fun golf and course build related content.
If you are shooting vid with the A7III are you shooting S-Log? The problem with FF video is the focus lengths can get real tight. For golf, I would not like that part but the S-Log video would be nice for getting more detail out of video.
I agree, played yesterday for $30. Can’t beat it.
Just want to welcome @IlliniGolferHack to the photog group, as he’ll be getting more and more into golf photography in the future (already snapped a few gems last weekend). Hit him up on the IG too at thecalcuttacollective
This isn’t really a photography question, but does anyone have experience with adobe illustrator?
Yeah, I’ve used Illustrator quite a bit for creating graphics and figures for papers, grants, and presentations (I’m in grad school). It’s a great tool.
Any tips on learning the software from scratch?
YouTube and Skillshare.
I’ve been youtubing quite a bit. I’m having trouble translating into my own work. Is it just trial and error?
I’ll check out skillshare
Definitely a lot of trial and error. I used YouTube to help me with Lightroom and it’s helped a lot.
Skillshare is generally a paid platform, but they do have some free classes and you might be able to get a free trial for the paid classes.
