Fellow aviation enthusiast; loved this. Maverick’s professionalism was exemplary. His plane is sweet, too.

As someone who’s always been interested in flying, but never taken the leap (partially cause of the cost) this was a fun video.

As a complete aviation noob, am I understanding correctly that there was a button that TC was instructed to push in case of emergency that would have taken complete control of the plane and figured out where and how to land it safely?

I obviously know autopilot existed but I guess I didn’t realize that auto-emergency-landing existed as well.

There sure is and it was used for the first time just this past December.

Cirrus has been at the forefront of safety technology for a long time. Awesome company. Garmin, too.

I couldn’t have been more impressed with Mav’s professionalism and preparation for a fairly simple training flight, really awesome to see. And that Cirrus has more technology than the 777. What a cool ride.

The parachute is pretty sick too

Loved watching Mav doing all the right things. Interesting that he would be hesitant to fly without all the modern accoutrements. I like the safety enhancements obviously but have always wondered about sloppy pilots using those things to backstop bad habits.

The best part was watching TC be speechless for a bit during the no jokes segment of the brief. Felt like he really wanted to throw one in there but couldn’t.

I learned to fly in the early 2000’s and have amassed a couple thousand hours in single engine airplanes. On a regional basis, a single engine airplane is a time machine.

I got my instrument rating in a Cirrus SR 22 and logged close to 100 hours flying around the SE US. They are great airplanes, really fun to fly and extremely safe. Compared to the steam gages in the 1961 Cessna I learned to fly in the Cirrus is a marvel of engineering mastery.

I really enjoyed the video with TC and Mav flying in his SR. It’s clear Mav is a true professional. Top notch checklist discipline and operating the aircraft in the middle of the safety envelope is the only way to fly. Once you learn the skills the SR is a relatively easy airplane to fly and they are very safe. Mav has the Garmin Auto Land in his SR as well as the airframe parachute. Those features make it super safe to fly. I have little doubt Mav will transition to the SF50 turbine Vision Jet in the next year or two.

If he wins the Masters and orders his SF50 in Masters Green, that would be at the top of the list of things that are sick, in my book.

I’m including a of photo of an SR wing on approach into Key West. Ft. Myers to Key West and back was a regular route.

Finally managed to watch this video this afternoon. Great content. Think I’d feel pretty safe with Mav flying the plane based on his approach and his prep.
