Try number 2

The real game is getting it between the bottom of the harp and top of the letters below it, and you nailed that

Can’t wait to give it a try with you boys in Michigan!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are 54 days away from this most prestigious well intentioned of events

I would like to take this opportunity to remind those of you who haven’t paid that entry is due by April 25, at which point the 20-odd people in the waitlist will get the opportunity to snag your spot.

I am also excited to announce the associated raffle for this event!

We’re doing things a little differently to protect me from the worst of white collar prisons via financial audits I want nothing to do with

Tickets are $5 each. To buy a ticket, please go to the WGAESF website and GIVE. For each $5 donated, you get yourself a chance at a prize (one prize per person)

Then go to the event excel file, go to the tab for the raffle, and enter your name and the amount of tickets you purchased - the following dollar amount should match what you sent.

Finally, send me a DM / post a screenshot to this thread /put out a carrier pigeon / email or text me a screenshot of your donated amount and name, so I can confirm your donation. We’re mostly on the honor system here, but as FCF customs dictate, do the right thing and don’t be a scumbag

FAQ’s

  • If you’d like to add something to be donated reach out! Lets build the raffle out
  • Raffle drawing will be on the evening of June 4th, with optional video chat
  • Winners will be given a reasonable amount of time that evening to respond with their desired item and attempts to contact you will be made, but if I can’t find you you can’t win
  • You do not need to be attending the event to participate in the raffle
  • Prizes will be delivered in the most economical route possible / via the donor

Driver and woods: Maxfli persimmons
Irons: Maxfli Australian blades
Wedge: Tad Moore Maxfli 56*
Putter: Otey Chrisman hickory

Was incredibly tempted to use this Tad Moore Maxfli putter to make it a full Maxfli set, but, alas, the allure of closer tees was too strong.

This is such a sick setup

Those Maxfli blades are fucking sick.

first - love the setup
Driver - 2pt
FW - 2pt
Irons → so those Maxfli Australian Blades are 1. Sick and 2. made 1977-1979, so should qualify for 2pts. Howeva the wedge in the setup, the Tad Moore Maxfli, is probably an early 90’s item (Tad Moore didn’t start designing clubs full scale until the late 80’s), which, unfortunately, is going to put the irons in the 1pt category
Putter - 3pt

As posted will be 8 points, which puts you at the gold tees

as an aside, even if you got 2pt for the irons you’d still be at 9 and in the gold tee category, so it doesn’t actually impact your tee box selections

*edit to add further research has suggested the irons are 90’s variants.
my initial search yielded these late 70’s blades which share the name but are clearly very different manufacture:

Yours reflect the later model 90’s version:

Oh, yeah, I was only expecting 1 point for the irons. I was struggling to find a date for them, but thought this particular iteration of the Australian blades were actually more like late 90s release. Hard to tell though.

I had the same set for the CCC a few years ago and think that I also found they were like early 90s

RAFFLE UPDATES:

It has been brought to my attention that the WGA ESF website requires a minimum donation of $21 for a one time gift.

If you’re interested in the raffle but want to give less than $21, please feel free to DM me and we’ll work out a way to get you included (probably venmo direct)

When do handicaps get pulled?

Setup:

Driver - MacGregor oil hardened persimmon (2pts)
Fairway woods - 975f series 3 wood and 5 wood (1 pt)
Irons- Mizuno pro ms-1 (1980 if I date them correctly) (2 pts)
Putter: not pictured, as it’s in the car, but it’s a Wilson 8802. (2pts)

By my math, correct me if I’m wrong, that’s 7 points.
