@JBors our 2nd round match is this Sunday at Tanna Farms. Target golf extravaganza
i might be in trouble this weekendâŠ
@baldvinny and I just wrapped up an instant classic pillow fight. I promised a lot of comfy 5âs and provided a bounty.
Neither player was up more than one stroke, we changed leads a handful of times, and we went into the famous (infamous?) downhill par 3 17th with the pargame faithful sweating out a 1-up lead.
Paul Azinger wouldâve been proud of the breathing exercises @TeddyPargame was doing calm himself down. But the Chicago Ted whoâs worse at golf hit an amped up 7iron over the green towards a back pin.
Vinny pulled one of his only bad irons of the day and got a good kick to stay in play, but left himself with an extremely difficult pitch over a large amount of rough onto a firm green. He hit a beautifully useful shot to 3 feet. Ted had a delicate downhill lie to a shortsided pin. But there was still enough green to work with. He bladed it and it wouldâve rolled all the way to the front of the green but it hits the pin (!!!) and drops to 2 feet. Both save miraculous pars.
(I am going to continue to go in third person here, just go with meâŠ)
On the 18th tee Ted maintained honors and hit a majestic grandpa push into the right rough. Bald Vinny hit an absolute bomb dead center with a helping bounce. After Pargame left it short into the bunker, ICE WATER vinny almost dunks it and leaves it to five feet. Pargame promptly bladed the bunker shot into the schnitz and we went to FREE golf. Vinny made his easy par.
We replayed the 18TH. Both hit GIR the first round, Vinnyâs much closer. Two nervy two putts.
Second replay of 18 Pargame again hit his approach to the back of the green, leaving him a longer but familiar putt. Vinny hit it closer (again) but this time it rolled barely off.
In what was likely the most bizarre, unnatural and happenstance event on any golf course this morning, Pargame hit a good lag putt with good pace. The gentlemanly Vinny told him to pick it up.
Vinny was left with a chance to chip in for the win or go up and down for the tie.
The chip was solid, on a great line but a few feet short.
The par putt lipped out.
Pargame wins 1-up.
I need to be in the medical tent after this pillow fight battle. @baldvinny was great company and a fantastic opponent. Very few misses out of that guy. Rock solid. My two strokes were certainly appreciated!!!
I really wanted the Ted Killer moniker too.
Great morning out there.
Until next year!
Cant wait for the next chapter of Just Good Enough, the exhilarating story of @TeddyPargame 's hard fought journey to the ope-in
Finished up a DELIGHTFUL round with @McDuffin , with me winning 3&2 in a pillow-fight of a match.
I think the more interesting part of the round was the couple we were paired with, and the 3 divots the guy would take on his practice swings alone.
Tanna Farms is an interesting course to say the least, lots of unknown lines off the tee and LOTS of trouble. Made for an interesting match with a great dood.
We are really getting down to it!
Ideally we need to finish this whole thing up in July to feed into the âOpe-inâ in the back half of August.
Great time⊠cool track, would get out there again esp for match play. Good luck next round!
One for the ages folksâŠ. when the alarm went off at 4:15 this morning I did not expect to be in a rock fight for 15 of 18 holes(there were of course some pillow fight holes) @TheAbeFroman and I had our match today at Shepardâs Crook with a 5:50 tee time joined by @PinkPantser. Jon and I never had more than a 1 hole up on each other, but after a fantastic birdie on 18 by Jon to push the game to extra holes, he made a comfy par to win the Match. What an awesome morning with the breakfast ball crew and the course is well worth the hour drive.
Shocking, the guy who has played 80 rounds this year wins again.
@djheadley played really well, just got bulldozed by what I think I counted as four birdies on the back nine by @TheAbeFroman
Back 9 was 4 birdies (pushed 3 holes, won 1), a double (pushed) and an other. Wild ride. Needed extra holes.
What a fun morning. And the surprise of the day was getting a free steak sandwich with the tee time. What value at the Crook!
Absolute classic matchplay move to go birdie, birdie, question mark, birdie - respect
There may have been another hole in there, but you know what I mean
That shot was the nail in the coffin. Ice cold veins after I icarutoâd over the green
@jbrey and @NPW you guys have one on the books! will need to schedule the winner sometime in july to plan for the ope-in.
@PinkPantser and I are Friday. Winner gets @TheAbeFroman in the semis
whatâs the pop situation in your match?
will be following along.
