Brandel Chamblee joins the pod - June 2024!

You’re welcome

Really hope that Brandel tries to respond. NLU just did an entire live show for over 2? hours with 1? 2? commercials. Kind of comical how out of touch the highest levels are with the fans. Nobody expects to not have commercials, it’s understanding how many.

During the Ryder cup shots would barely land on the green (when shown) before cutting to another commercial. It was so bad.

Pocketcasts as well

And boomers wonder why youth roll their eyes at them every time they open their mouths. The self-inflated sense of righteousness being preached ad nauseum is just so suffocating.

As long as EA sports brings me another college football game on the PS5, I’m good.

Brandel’s head has gotten so big he had to get fit into one of Gary Williams’s old wigs

So we’ve had a Brandel sighting on Twitter for the first time since Soly’s post but it’s reposting a video on Mark Brooks that the PGA of America put out:

This is very adjacent to the discussion on Brandel but we covered both golf viewing and the darts in this thread yesterday.

The PDC World Dart Championships final was last night in London. This years event featured a 16 year old phenom called Luke Littler who captivated the darts world and people like me who only follow darts around this time of year when the worlds are on. Sky Sports provides extensive coverage across the tournament and is also the key provider of golf coverage in the UK.

The viewing figures are out and the final was Sky Sports best non-football (soccer) event ever with 3.7m watching.

As context, across the 3 days of the Ryder Cup this year, Sky Sports had an average of 785k viewers per day across the 3 days and that was up vs both 2021 in Whistling Straits and 2018 in Paris.

I watched more of the darts this year than ever before and really enjoyed it. I thought the coverage was great. Ex pros doing some colour with presenters that lead the discussion and then some player interviews. The live audience watching the matches are great as well - lots of fancy dress, singing, etc - no unlike the Ryder Cup.

All of this is to say that the darts product on TV is solid whilst I think we are all concerned about golf on TV.

Felt it was a bit rude of the boys to go live during the darts final yesterday :joy:

Feel like Randy and TC would love the darts.

Must all be van Gerwen fans. Saw him lose in the quarters and the tournament was over for them.

It was a sad day for The Duck Club when he lost.

Oh, that explains everything.

No no. His first sighting was to make sure he wasn’t owned as being a Lib.
