Big Randy and the tee box dream

See 30 seconds of this video…

Who has had this dream? I’ve definitely had it more than a couple of times. Very stressful, and I was talking to another golfer who had the same dream. Seems to be a very common golfer dream.

Yep, I have this dream too. Happens a couple of times a year.

Same!! Never heard someone else talking about it

I have it several times per year. Either can’t find room to tee the ball up so I can swing, or that my home course is different and I can’t figure the holes out.

Few years back this was discussed on the Chasing Scratch Podcast when one of them discussed it and apparently it is quite common with golfers.

Kind of bizarre.

My version of this is that the tee box is inside of a house and I have to hit through a window to hit the fairway. And I can’t tee up anywhere that doesn’t impact my swing

I have the “have a tee time but can’t ever get to the first tee…” version.

sidetracked in the locker room/putting green/driving range/first tee moved/had to talk to someone/etc/etc never actually get to play

My weirdly seems to involve a house a lot too.

It’s comforting to know how many people have the same dream. I’ll say my version of can’t get somewhere in time is basketball related. Trouble with shoes and uniform usually.

All of this. Haven’t in a while but I always used to have the hockey game but I can’t get my gear on in time one.

I’ve shared this somewhere before but the golf dream I’ve had multiple times is:

I’m somehow in the field at the US Open. It’s always at Bethpage Black. I am somehow paired with Tiger Woods. On the 1st tee they announce my name and I go to tee the ball up and it falls off the tee. I tee it up again and it falls off again. This continues on multiple times with growing anxiety building internally. The crowd starts to murmur and make noise and then Tiger blurts out “He can’t even tee the ball up!” I wake in a cold sweat.

I had the “I forgot my clubs at home and missed my club championship tee time” dream last night, too. Weird.

Same dream here too, I’m basically just panicking trying to get the ball on the tee and when I do, something nonsensical stops me from hitting the shot or I don’t have room to swing. I can’t recall ever actually hitting the shot.

It’s the golf version of another recurring dream I have where I’m trying to make my report time at work, but I’m not even close to being able to make it and never do.

For me there’s always a fence or a banner or a wall or something behind me, too close for my backswing. And I try to move the ball to another part of the tee but there’s another similar impediment there.

I have to say, whoever does the course setup in my dreams is a real bastard.

I have a version of Randy’s dream too. Generally it’s I tee it up and realize the lie isn’t flat or something then move the ball somewhere else and in that spot I can’t make a backswing because of a wall or other impediment so I move it again and then I start worrying that it’s taking me too long to hit and people are watching me and on and on it goes. Weirdly sometimes it also involves a house like others are saying… like trying to hit a drive down a hallway.

Have had versions of this dream forever. Assume it is an anxiety thing, similar to the dream that I still have (at age 55), where I realize I have a final exam for a class that I forgot to attend all semester.

Talked about this with my dad a few years back. We both have this dream. lol.

Not only have I had this dream multiple times, but almost every golfer I’ve talked to about the dream has experienced some variation of it as well.
