Dallas folks: Tenison Glen is apparently going away to add more paved trail space, but sounds like there’s at least consideration of using part of it for a short course. Would be a great idea to get more uses out of that land, I’m sure Dallas will screw it up somehow.
To claim his score is just too much…
Man what a tragedy. The Glen was always a go-to when my buddies and I hadn’t played in a while. $12 to walk 18 7 days a week. Poor Marvin the used ball salesmen who has been out there for 40 years is going to have to find a new gig Councilwoman!
Look at the front nine of Landa Park from Google Maps or Google Earth before you head out. The land is quite flat so even from the tee its not clear where the water starts and stops.
I think you’ll find that you don’t get to hit driver on 1 or 2. Its a little goofy to have back-to-back par 5s on 3 and 4. Stay right on 9 so that the tree on the left doesn’t block out your approach. That green is the most undulated on the entire course. A ridge splits it up the middle. From the fairway it won’t be clear that there’s a bunker long that is death.
There’s no range onsite so if you need to hit balls before the round, David Ogrin’s range is just a few minutes away.
A thread for the Texas folks
Que pasa? Refuge lurker extraordinaire here, but figured I needed to #getinvolved before it was too late. Anyways, I’m an Austin local, who is always looking to play anywhere around town. If you’re in the 512 and looking to play, let me know and let’s make it happen.
Extremely helpful. Thank you!
I am in the dark days of a swing struggle at the moment, but when I get back to normal (15 or so handicap) I may hit you up.
Any refugees have an in at summit rock? The family is heading to horseshoe bay for spring break and I’d love to play it.
This thread needs to change Its name.
Should be roll call something.
I saw: “A thread for…” and my brain read “for contrarian takes”
So
Had my head spinning.
Hey! Git outta here!
Check out Hurricane Creek up in Anna. A little more of a country vibe but incredibly affordable. El Dorado is kind of a boring course IMO
Do you have a good opinion of Hurricane Creek? Thinking of joining in the next month or so.
Boring but good conditions, or boring and shite? Hurricane is further than I would want to travel.
I play there a few times a year in member/guests, ETC with my Dad. I always have a good time out there and the people are super friendly. It’s really not uppity at all like most private clubs in DFW and I enjoy that
Eh, it’s been 15 years since I’ve played it. I just think of generic, house lined Texas golf whenever I drive by El Dorado. Take my opinion with a grain of salt
Awesome. Thanks for the feedback. Wife & I are moving up to the area here shortly, and the combination of facilities and cost just seems too good to be true.
Nice! The area (specifically north of McKinney) is booming like crazy right now. Anna, Melissa, Van Alstyne, etc.
We’re in Austin currently, and I’ll be taking a job in Sherman. Wife would like to be a little closer to Dallas, so we’re thinking Anna will be a good compromise.
Did you belong to a club in Austin? My neighborhood has open Spec homes! South McKinney though.
I don’t belong to a club down here. We live in North Austin and the options are very limited. I do a players club membership where its unlimited range time and discounted rounds in the afternoon.
