How about Rockport CC? Used to be great
As an AH resident, I can confirm that it is a lovely place to live and really convenient. I am 5 minutes to the Quarry and 10 minutes to Brack. If you want private golf (which the Covid golf boom made more attractive to me) SACC is in the neighborhood but is a serious old line club that is stuffy and has mediocre golf. Oak Hills golf is sooo good after the restoration. I joined Briggs and while it is about 30 min away it has worked for me. I will probably switch to Oak Hills after my 4 year contract at Briggs is up but the network of clubs in the Dormie Network has been a great additional perk from Briggs
Howdy Folks! Just a reminder if you haven’t already, put your names into the roster of your Roost sheet, either with STROHs or us at Big Plex. We will soon have threads for Roost members only, which @Jdonelson and I will likely use to some degree for planning and announcements. So I want to make sure you’re included in access to that thread if you want to be part of our Roost. Also, in the Big Plex roster sheet, on the second tab, I’m trying to keep updated with event information, communic and other info that should help you navigate. I know there are a lot communications channels, so any feedback on what’s working, what’s too much, etc., will be appreciated.
I’m old enough to remember when the original jingle was “real American heroes” but they changed it after 9/11.
Played Gus last January on a whim. Couldn’t have had more fun. Looking for an excuse to get back to Houston to play it again.
Got myself an iPad today to fiddle around with graphic design. Decided to do a Texas twist for Pine Dunes, just for fun.
I work in e-commerce, and I source merchandise for businesses on the side. I’ve pitched some merch work to the owner of Pine Dunes before, since the pro shop is absolute dog-shit and it was NOT well received, she was appalled at the notion that a club could have more than one logo, since the logo she designed is “one of the best in all of golf”
Following Pine Dunes on instagram is high comedy these days.
You mean you don’t like the daily chipping tutorials or memories from skiing in Vail with Alison?
I thought they just found a clip art logo to use.
This logo and the new Gus Wortham logo bother me how bad they are. I want merch, but do I really want to wear that?
her exact email to me said: "I have no interest in changing my logo. We sell more merchandise than you can imagine because of our logo. Not only that but I was an award winning graphic designer who did it my self. I am in the Director’s Cut book on many occasions.
I have been told it is the best logo in the golf world. It incorporates the hawk, sand, & pine trees which makes up what Pine Dunes is all about."
That’s a hawk?
It’s a chicken hawk I believe

Those are pine trees? They look like mountains.
I actually don’t dislike the logo, except for the color choices. And the pine trees need to be tweaked a bit to be less mountain-like.
Major Trump vibes coming out of pine dunes ownership.
I’d rather wear a hat that just has “Pine Dunes” in papyrus on it than one with their current logo.
“Pine Dunes” in Wingdings would look better than the current logo.
Just in case someone here hasn’t seen this yet - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVhlJNJopOQ.
